Guest Blogger 8 Makeup Hacks You Need to Know 2:04 PM Sometimes, you get stuck in the same rut of using your makeup. You don’t try anything new. You just accept that the way you’ve done it is the way you must always do it. Look through these eight makeup hacks, and you will see that they can change the way you apply your makeup. There will be no need for fighting to put on fake eyelashes or redoing your winged eyeliner over and over. (Click individual photos to view in full size) 8 Makeup Hacks You Need to Know 1. Removing Nail Polish without Nail Polish Remover credit: http://www.beautyjunkees.com Many times, you just accept that glitter nail polish is not going to come off easily. If you are trying to pick it off, it only comes off in small chunks, and it never looks good. Using nail polish remover can take a long time. However, if you put a thin coat of white glue on before you put on the glitter nail polish, you can simply peel the nail polish off when you are done with it. 2. Makeup Fell on my Carpet! credit: https://www.bisselldirect.co.uk/ Don’t worry. This is no longer the end of the world. Depending on the type of makeup on your carpet, you will need different materials. In the case of lipstick, you will need rubbing alcohol and dry cleaning fluid. You will apply the cleaning materials to a clean washcloth. Blot the stain without rubbing. Check out this article on how to clean makeup from the carpet so that you can know the specific ingredients when it comes to different makeup solutions. 3. Intensify Your Eye Shadow’s Color credit: http://images.wisegeek.com/ If you are going with a bold eye shadow color, you want to make your eyes stand out. However, what you are using may not be as bright as it could be. Apply white eyeliner across your eyelid before you put on the eye shadow. When you are done applying the makeup, your eye color will appear brighter and bolder. 4. Remove Makeup without Makeup Remover This tip is a good one for when you are traveling and you forgot your makeup remover or if you simply run out. These solutions are also a bit more natural and do not contain alcohol. First, you can choose to use Vaseline. Using a Q-tip, you can apply the Vaseline, rubbing in small circles as you go. Because Vaseline can be oily, you should be careful to remove the Vaseline when you have finished with your makeup. Vaseline is one, but not the only, option for removing your makeup without makeup remover. To read about a few more options, check out this article about removing makeup without makeup remover. 5. How to Easily Make Winged Eyeliner credit: http://www.wikihow.com/ Sometimes, you have seen a great look on a girl, and you want to know how to do it. Maybe you look up a Youtube video, but when you try it, it turns out a little funny. Winged eyeliner can be one of those things that is a bit tricky to do. One way that you can make your winged eyeliner look great is by using the edge of a spoon against your eye. Slowly move the spoon outward with your eyeliner following it. You can also draw the cat eye with your eyeliner. Fill the middle space with liner to complete the winged look. 6. Look Slimmer in Photos credit: http://makeup.allwomenstalk.com/ Photos can cause your face to look shiny with grease, and that problem can be taken care of along with the problem of making you look thinner with one simple trick. Apply a attenuated line of mineral powder down the center of your face. If the powder is too thick, it will be noticeable in the photos. Try taking a few test photos on yourself at home to see if you got the line right. It make take some adjusting before you get the look you want. 7. Make Those Lashes Thicker! Who doesn’t want thicker eyelashes? If you are trying to draw attention to your eyes, you may need more than mascara. After you apply the first coat of mascara, sprinkle on some baby powder. Apply a second coat of mascara, and you are ready to go! The powder will stay in place from the second coat of mascara, which acts as a sealer. You will have thicker and bolder eyelashes. 8. Apply Your Eyelashes If it is a battle to get the glue on your fake eyelashes correctly, then this hack will help you. Put the glue on the end of a bobby pin, and use the bobby pin to apply the glue. It will get just enough glue on the eyelash to make it stick well, but it will not create pools of glue that make a big mess. You can clean the bobby pin off and use it again later. Dating How To Ask A Girl Out And Succeed 9:40 PM Article submitted by Adam Smith: It seems quite strange that many modern guys still doubt if they should approach the girl of their dreams or not. Despite all those smart means of online communication, humanity remains the same. Men are still afraid of getting rejected and women continue to wait for them to make the first move. In this article, our experts from Jump4love Scam decided to provide you with valuable tips on how to solve that delicate of how to ask a girl out and succeed. (Click individual photos to view in full size) How To Ask A Girl Out And Succeed 1. Clarify everything in advance Before you start conquering her heart, make sure your efforts won’t be in vain. What if she isn’t even single? Better if you know that her heart is free first thing. Next, try to study who she actually is. Perhaps, you already communicate as friends so pay your attention to what type of guys she is into and what things she likes. 2. Is she into you? As a rule, girls expect guys to take the initiative. Even in our modern times, most women wish to be treated like princesses. Indeed, a rare woman will just come to you and ask you out. If she likes you, she will rather drop some hints. Keep those on your radar! It’s really possible to define whether she is interested in you or not. Just be attentive and don’t run ahead of time. 3. Choose the moment Asking a girl out isn’t always that simple. Like all other people, she has her own business to deal with. To receive a positive answer, you should pick the moment when she is in her best mood. The atmosphere should be relaxing and casual. Try to detect when she could be in the mood for romance and flirting. 4. Look your best The way we look hugely impacts other people's impression. Without any doubts, a girl you wish to date should see how attractive you are both inside and outside. Of course, your inner self matters above all yet the exterior helps you draw a girl’s attention to your personality. To ask her out, you don’t have to dress as if you were going to a party; however, your outfit must be fresh, elegant, and clean. Work on how you smell too. 5. Feel secure about what you do If there is a manly feature any woman would appreciate, it is confidence. This is probably the most important factor defining our overall self-esteem, which is critical in relationship building. Surely, no girl likes timid guys; neither does your potential date. So while actually asking her out, be calm, welcoming, and relaxed (or at least appear so). 6. Communicate your intention The way you convey your thoughts to her also matters. When we are truly into someone, we likely get nervous and tense if this person is around. And this undeniably impacts our communication skills. To sound confident and clearly, you should set your mind in a certain way. Better if you plan what exactly you want to say in advance – no, seriously, think it out! 7. Have the plan This tip refers to various aspects. First, you should pre-plan your potential meetup – when and where it will take place and what you two can do together. Even such romantic occasions as the first dates should run under the proper scenario. Not to mention, your girl will likely ask you a question about it. Second, you’d better be ready to respond to her whether she agrees to go out or rejects you. All images were provided by Adam. Hey, did you find this post helpful or entertaining? Lux Thinking Aloud Life So Far This 2016 8:00 AM It's my birthday week y'all! Time flies. It seems only yesterday when I was reflecting on my past birthday. And here we are again. Will I write another reflection? Another lesson learned? Will I post about my plans? Will I share my wishes? Don't think so. I'll just post about my life so far this 2016. This year has been kind of slow...and fast at the same time. I know that sounds crazy, but that's how my life is. Crazy. (Click individual photos to view in full size) Life So Far This 2016 Beef's back in the menu! I started eating beef again. I've shared here before that my sister and I are planning to open a cafe restaurant and burger, nachos and other dish with beef is in the menu. So we started trying out burgers and other food in cafes and restaurants near our area to see what we can do to top them. After years of not eating beef (by choice), 2016 is the year I've reconciled with this juicy meat. I don't enjoy it as much as other people do, but that's something notable I did this year. Cutting ties I started unfriending people on my FB list. You remember back in the days when FB started, we accept invites from people we barely know and see, just as long as they're familiar faces and names? I did that. And now when I see my feed and I'm like, "Who are these people?" I don't hesitate clicking that Unfriend button. Because I'm sharing my life with people who don't really care or who may care but only so for them to have something to talk about. It came to a point when it became clear to me that when it comes to friendship, quality over quantity is better. I stopped or at least avoided speaking to people who LOVE to talk down on me. Like, wow, do I really have the time and energy for this crap? Not anymore. And I don't have to endure your emotional punches just because we're related by blood. Who's with me? Expanded dating market This single is ready to mingle. I've realized though that with the nature of my job, I don't get enough time and "exposure". So this year...I joined a dating site. Yep, I finally did it. Maybe it's not a major thing for some, but if you know me, this is so out of character. I have to talk to myself several times into doing it. And hey, it's not as bad as I thought it will be. More time with family Removing unnecessary people from your life gives you more room and time for the people who matter most. So this year, moving back to my hometown gave me more time to bond with my family, and our dogs. Whether it's just us chilling playing Uno or going for some island hopping, I enjoy every moment with the fam. More travels Traveling is so addicting. Once you start, there's no stopping. But this is one thing I'd be happy to be addicted to. Life so far this 2016 has been about a lot of traveling. As for my 2016 goals, I wrote I will visit 5 new places. I didn't. I exceeded that number! These photos don't do justice to the beauty of the Philippine beaches. You should come visit someday. :) With my birthday coming, I have to remind myself not to fret. Not all my goals have been achieved but at least most of them have. And some things take time. Right? I've got to be firm with my goals but flexible with the process. Maybe I need to adjust my target date for it. Maybe I need to change strategy to achieve it. You too. Wherever you are, I wish you'll always be grateful for what you have with what's happening in your life so far this 2016. Hey, did you find this post helpful or entertaining? Travels When In Guimaras (Part 2) 7:00 AM Continuing my adventure when in Guimaras... Go island hopping! (Click individual photos to view in full size) Alubihod Beach Resort We planned on staying for 30 minutes max. But when we saw the place, we forgot about the time. Pristine water, white sand, and not as crowded as Boracay. We went for a day trip only, but in case you plan on staying, I've found these info for you. Cabugan Adventure Resort We stayed in Cabugan Adventure Resort. That's another boat ride from Jordan Guimaras, the main island. It's in Bgy. Tando, Sitio Duncaan, Nueva Valencia Guimaras. On the right side of the island is the beach that leads to the islands/islets we were to explore. On the left is a peaceful lake where you can kayak. And on the island is where you swing, and eat and be merry. I love to see dogs whenever I travel to unfamiliar places. They make me feel at home and safe. Isla Miguel Isla Miguel is where I did my first jump into the sea. Overlooking from Isla Miguel is one of the three Crocodile islands in the province. Floating Cottage Unfortunately, it's high tide when we came there that the sand bar is not visible. So we just swam some more, ate the famous Filipino dessert halo-halo, and rested for a bit before we resumed the island hopping. Guimaras Lighthouse, Taklong Island Another Guimaras Lighthouse with a spectacular view. According to our tour guide, there are about 200 islets around Taklong Island. It makes a perfect view when you're on top of the Lighthouse. Surrounding the lighthouse is a white sand beach with clear blue water. Guimaras Sandbar My most favorite island during the tour is their sandbar. Oh, it was immaculate. And I like that it's just us. Plus we went in the water and snorkel (no photos of that though). It's scary for me who can't swim but it was mesmerizing. Traveling is always good when you're with your favorite people Forgive me for not knowing the exact amount of the fare and the accommodation as the whole trip was part of surprise vacation my friends planned for me. I did gave my share but I wasn't part of the planning so I'm not too sure of the budget. Check out the links from other websites I provided for more details about the places. Next time you plan to travel and make it worth your while, Guimaras should be on your list. You can never go wrong when in Guimaras. These wonderful photos are from my friends' smartphones. Food Tips To Finding Best Restaurants Anywhere 8:00 AM No matter where you go, food is something that we always seek. And finding best restaurants is the key to enjoying good food. A quality eatery is a place where you are guaranteed satisfaction when it comes to tantalizing your taste buds. A delicious meal in a place that is unknown is a pleasure. But how do you know what’s best? Here are some tips- Tips To Finding Best Restaurants Anywhere Head Out It is time to get out of the hotel and look beyond what is there in the neighborhood. One of the most common mistakes that people make when hunting for the best restaurants is that they don’t even make that effort. Staying inside your hotel is not going to be of any use. What you need to do is head out and venture into the streets. Sometimes it is the oddest locations where you find the best foods. This literally holds true for sea-food which is served best when fresh. You could be staying at some of the most luxurious hotels in town but it doesn’t assure you of quality or premium food either. Use Your Technology Gone are the days when you have to wait for the reception desk to bring you a list of some of the best restaurants. Or go through the yellow pages! With the advent of technology, life has become simpler. You can use your smartphone or computer to browse through some of the available places and deals in restaurants. However, there are two main aspects to consider here. Don’s just go by the ratings. Different people have different needs and taste. It is possible that someone may rate a dish poor while you enjoy it. But do read through carefully because if most people are rating the food quality poor, chances are it is not worth visiting. Also, look for the number of people visiting that restaurant on a general basis. Ask Around Step out of the hotel; ask around for the best restaurants not based on the place ambiance or ratings alone but by the kind of food served there. It is possible that you may come across a small family-owned Italian joint that has the best pizzas and simple heartwarming food. It might not be a fine dining place but the food is awesome. The locals are the best people to provide you guidance on the food available. You can ask a few people about the popular restaurants around based on the cuisine you want to eat. Don’t Be Scared to Explore Don’t be restrained with the risks of exploring. After all that’s what food is all about. Some of the best restaurants that you are visiting could be in the dark alleys or a small joint. But the food quality could be awesome. They could be using fresh produce including meats, vegetables, etc. that enhance the food quality. Also, look around for the specialties of the area. If you are near the beach, then chances are you will get a premium choice of seafood as compared to may be poultry or meat. So, do explore and try out the local delicacies. Sometimes, items that you think sound scary taste a lot better. Then there are times when chefs from other cities or countries are visiting, so for a short duration the food of a restaurant can change completely. So, don’t judge the best restaurants based on their ambiance or their overall costs, but also explore other avenues. This post may contain affiliate links. All images were provided by the author.
