Life Lessons Birthday Life Lessons 2:06 PM It`s not how old you are, it`s how you are old. -Jules Renard For my birthday this year, allow me to share with you the beautiful realizations and life lessons I've learned which were very well summed up by José Micard Teixeira. Sometimes these beliefs got people questioning me, raising their brows and telling me I'm too rigid, uptight or arrogant. Someday, I hope the rest of the world will see things this way. I no longer have patience for certain things, not because I've become arrogant, but simply because I reached a point in my life where I do not want to waste more time with what displeases me or hurts me. I have no patience for cynicism, excessive criticism and demands of any nature. I lost the will to please those who do not like me, to love those who do not love me and to smile at those who do not want to smile at me. I no longer spend a single minute on those who lie or want to manipulate. I decided not to coexist anymore with pretense, hypocrisy, dishonesty and cheap praise. I do not tolerate selective erudition nor academic arrogance. I do not adjust either to popular gossiping. I hate conflict and comparisons. I believe in a world of opposites and that’s why I avoid people with rigid and inflexible personalities. In friendship I dislike the lack of loyalty and betrayal. I do not get along with those who do not know how to give a compliment or a word of encouragement. Exaggerations bore me and I have difficulty accepting those who do not like animals. And on top of everything I have no patience for anyone who does not deserve my patience.
Life Lessons My Birthday Gratitude List 2:07 PM I don't mind getting older; it's a privilege denied to so many! -Chris Geiger Thank you for all the birthday wishes! Turning another year is a HUGE blessing. Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed to wake up or live long enough to experience more of God's love. I am more thankful as I get older because I see the value of small things. I know that they are what really matters most. Here's my birthday gratitude list. Birthday Gratitude List I am thankful for... My perfectly imperfect family. Friends old and new. My faith has grown not as big as the mustard seed but is stronger than it used to be. The right people He has brought into my life, helping me realize and acknowledge my purpose. The heartbreaks, losses, rejections, failures, and betrayals. They made me wiser. My freelance business and the people I work with every day. My investments. The successes and the failures. Great books that have helped, entertained, and kept me company. Hot tea, especially on cold days. Our crazy loyal dogs. God's Divine Provision. All the trips I made this year and those I look forward to in the future. The courage to face my fear. My resilience in facing challenges and the will to move forward. The silence and peace of living alone. Good health. The rising traffic in my blog (I have you, readers, to thank for that!) The good and bad feedback I get. They help me to be better. Good food I get to enjoy with good company. My thriving social business. The passion in my heart. Life Lessons Surf On And Ride The Waves Of Life 11:59 PM Have you ever tried surfing? I have. I remember how hard I struggled with the waves at first. Although the waves were not really intimidating and threatening that day as it's not the "surfing season" yet, I was still worried. I was still scared. My surfing instructor was young, but he knows the wave like the back of his hand because he grew up in that place. He was patient with my questions, and was supportive. He thoroughly explained to me everything He knows about the surfboard, the waves, and the tactics in keeping my balance. I told him I was scared but he assured me that I can do it and that I don't have to worry because he will be behind me, making sure that I’ll be safe the whole time. Every time I fall off the board, he would encourage me to do it again and tell me what I did wrong. Every time I could keep my balance, he was rejoicing like a fan. He was ecstatic when I was able to stand without falling after three attempts. My accomplishment was his happiness. Surf On And Ride The Waves Of Life I've realized that surfing lesson is so much like our journey in life. Strong waves of trials intimidate us, shake our faith, and sometimes make us fall into sin and leave us hurting. God our Instructor in life, is very patient with us. He guides us, reminds us of what we can do (all things through Christ), call us out when we sin, and cheers us on. He is hurting more than we do, because He feels our pain. He rejoices in all our victory no matter how small it may be. Our accomplishment is His joy and glory. The waves may grow bigger and we may fear that it might swallow us, but God assures us that He will be there and see to it that we are safe all the time. We may fall, but we can always stand up and try again. He will be there pushing our surfboards, shouting instructions and encouragement, rejoicing in every victory. We need not worry because He knows the ocean of life like the back of His hand for He created it. Most of all we should listen to Him when He tells us we can do it, because He knows us more than we know ourselves. Surf on and ride the waves of life!
