Faith 7 Benefits Of Fear And 7 Easy Ways To Conquer It 6:10 PM 7 Benefits And 7 Easy Ways To Conquer Fear What is fear?Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat. (Oxford Languages)Why is fear so important? A little dose of fear could be healthy and helpful. Imagine if you're not afraid of falling down a cliff. You wouldn't be careful. You'll end up hurting yourself and others with you. Though fear is considered a negative emotion, good things come with it. Fear alerts us of potential danger. It makes us more cautious. It gives us a chance to protect ourselves from peril.Fear only becomes harmful or unhealthy when you let it rule your life and paralyze you from moving forward. How can you use fear to your advantage?Use fear as motivation instead of a deterrent. We all have fears. But we can use it for our benefit. Here are 7 benefits of fear and 7 easy ways to conquer it.7 Benefits Of Fear And 7 Easy Ways To Conquer ItWhat's your deepest fear? When I was still single, I feared the what-ifs of the future.I wasn't afraid of growing old alone. Because I enjoy my own company. I have made small investments to secure my future.Today, I'm happily married. And sometimes I wonder what I was so afraid of back then.My fears are different now. It changes as we grow, although some things remain.I'm still afraid of these things:What if I'm not enough? What if I can't do it and fail my client or my own business? What if something terrible happened to my loved ones? I know it's inevitable, but I still fear losing them.I fear not having enough time to do the things I want.I fear that this p and em ic will continue for a long time, and our economy will plummet further. The fear of uncertainty. As humans, fear is embedded in our DNA. It is a primitive human emotion. Fear is essential for survival. Giphy7 Benefits of FearFear can make you wise. It encourages critical thinking.Fear helps you focus or keeps you on your toes.Fear can give you the feeling of anticipation, which could be exhilarating.Fear makes you attentive. When you fear for your health, you become more conscious about your lifestyle. You consider what you put in and on your body.Fear makes you cautious. When you fear for your and others' safety, you become attentive.Fear drives you to change. Fear can push you to be bold. Ironic, right? But it's only when we are fearful we can be brave. It's only when we are afraid we can make bold moves. If I wasn't afraid when I was single, I wouldn't have been careful in choosing my future partner. Instead, I would have just settled for anyone. When you fear losing something precious, you take care of it, hold it tighter, and even fight for it.Giphy7 Easy Ways to Conquer fearIdentify what's making you afraid.Confront the feeling. Understand why you are afraid of something.Embrace fear.Laugh.Plan.Pray.Do it afraid. (Joyce Meyer) 1. Identify what's making you afraid. What is making you afraid?Fear of commitment? Fear of speaking in front of people?Fear of the unknown?Fear of the "result"?They say fear is just an illusion. It's an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real. Identify the fear. Is it real? Or are you just overthinking it?2. Confront the feeling. Why are you afraid of ___? Only when you've identified your fear can you confront and understand why you feel that way. Some people give up on dating and marriage because they've been hurt too many times in the past. Fear usually involves a focus on the past.3. Embrace fear. We're all afraid of something. Some are irrational, and some are rational reactions to a real threat. How do you embrace fear?Use fear, and don't let it use you.Embracing fear means using it as a tool. A small amount of fear is a good thing. Use it as a guide or instruction. 4. Laugh at it.Seriously, humor is the best remedy.Have you seen Harry Potter, where they had to fight a boggart?A boggart is a shapeshifter that usually lurks in dark spaces. It has no definite form, taking the shape of what is most feared by the person who encounters it. (Wikibooks)This means it plays with the person's weakness. The spell to defeat the boggart is Riddikulus. It will then turn from your menacing fear into something, well...ridiculous. But what finishes it off? Laughter.GiphyIn real life, you can tell your fear that it's ridiculous and then laugh at it.Learn to laugh at yourself.5. Plan. Before the emotion gets the better of you, take a walk. Or shower. Shower thoughts are the best, yes?Play some feel-good movies.Try to recall all the hard times you went through and how you miraculously managed to still be alive and well. And then plan your next move. Are you afraid of confronting your boss or colleague about an issue at work that's been bothering you? That's good because you don't just walk right up to them. There may be consequences. So take some time to plan what you need to do next.Learn from your past experiences or from other people.6. Pray.Go back to the fact that the phrase "Fear not" has been mentioned 365 times in the Bible. It's like God knows that we will always be afraid of something. So, he reminds us to not fear every day of every year (365 days in one year).Fear not. God is still in control. You have 24/7 access to the Lord of all. Pray. And remember, "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear." (1 John 4:18)7. Do it afraid. When you fear not being heard or being oppressed, speak. Even when your voice is shaking.Your fear will always be there, rearing its ugly head unless you learn to conquer it.You don't have to wait for fear to disappear (it may never happen) before you act. Have you stopped and considered that maybe you're only afraid of how powerful, brilliant, and fabulous you can be.If it's holding you back from becoming the best version of yourself, do it now, even when you're trembling with fear.Your turnWhat is your greatest fear? How is it beneficial to you? How do you conquer it?Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frighten us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? …And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.-Marianne WilliamsonThis post may contain affiliate links. Business 5 Small Business Tips To Survive And Thrive During The Pandemic 4:59 PM One moment, you're standing firm and steady; the next, you're grasping at straws. What now? That must be what everyone thought when C O V I D - 19 hit. Especially small business owners. Some companies temporarily closed, and others even filed bankruptcy because of this p a n de m i c. So, how do you pandemic-proof your business? If you're an SMB operator trying to survive or wanting to thrive during this time, here are 5 small business tips for you:Tip #1: Put everyone's safety first. If you're a brick-and-mortar business, practice safety protocols. Open the door for your customers to lessen their surface contact.Have alcohol or sanitizer ready at the entrance.Take their temperature; if convenient, have someone ask them about their symptoms.Wear face masks (and PPEs if needed) to make your customers feel safe.Disinfect the place regularly.Have your employees checked and tested for C OV ID,Monitor your team's condition. Let them take the day off or work remotely if someone feels sick.Take health precautions seriously. A decrease in productivity is better than the whole business shutting down because of the virus spread. Tip #2: Adapt to change. Be like bamboo. Strong but adaptable. If this crisis has taught retailers something, it is to be flexible. Change with the times. Use modern technology to your advantage. Let your customers find you online. "Grocery retailers have to realize online order and click-and-collect will become 30-40% of their business," Brittain Ladd, Global Business and Strategy Consultant. Here are a few new normals most businesses are adapting to keep their businesses surviving and thriving: Operate with a skeletal workforce.Offer house delivery or partner with delivery apps.Have a pick-up or take-out-only option.Adjust your space to ensure social distancing inside your store/office.Ask customers to give the exact amount.Provide online payment options or cashless transactions.Offer subscription services. A subscription box is flourishing in the health, beauty, fashion, and pet industries.Go digital. Even companies as big as Target are turning to online shopping because of C OVID.Putting up an online shop is easier than you think. There are online tutorials you can check. Or you can book a consultation with a digital marketer and plan a strategy. Tip #3: Stay connected with employees. You need your team for your business to survive. Your employees need you now more than ever, so stay connected by ensuring you have a good internet connection - if you are considering switching internet service providers or researching suddenlink internet plans. Other similar packages could help you to find a good fit for your needs.Thank heavens for technology. Working remotely is now possible. Establish a work-from-home option with your team. You have the advantage if you've already created a remote work system before C OVID. However, if you don't have one, don't fret. It's not rocket science. Have clear work-from-home guidelines for your employees. Here are 3 tools you can use for productivity: Slack is an excellent tool for chatting and simple project management. Google Meet, Zoom, and Skype for calls.Trello is a fantastic app for keeping track of your team's daily tasks.Talk about your deliverables---who should do what, and when is it due? Clear communication is the key. More than work, ask your team about how they're coping during this crisis. Offer support. There are free mental health consultations online you can refer them to. Your employees should feel heard. They will take care of your business if you take care of them. Tip #4: Keep your clients/customers in the loop. Like you, your customers are trying to figure out what's happening and where they should go. Be their guide. Be the constant and regular they know they can still depend on. How to communicate with customers while everyone's staying home? According to the International Telecommunication Union, over 4 billion people use the Internet now. That's a whopping 53.6% of the global population! Make sure someone's manning your communication channels. Set up a Messenger bot for FAQs. Have someone check message inquiries.Send emails and/or post updates about new policies, process changes, store hours, or promotions.Get their feedback. Ask your customers what they need from you as a business and what changes they want to see.Use social media to share your behind-the-scenes stories with your followers and engage with them.Customers will appreciate your effort to ensure they're still getting the service or product they need, even during this crisis. Be transparent with your company's plans. A well-informed customer is a happy customer. Show them you care and that their needs come first.Don't leave your loyal customers in the dark. Trust goes a long way.Tip #5: Give back. Some companies involve their customers in giving back to the community by asking them to donate. Human Nature offers Pledge a Package wherein you can shop online for natural hygiene kits. They will then deliver these to health workers in different hospitals. Some restaurants offer their kitchen for organizations to prepare free meals. What can you offer? Remember: whatever you give comes back to you a hundredfold. Bonus Tip: Change your mindset! Now is not the time for a victim and scarcity mentality. Now is the time to think out of the box. Your business will not progress if you stay stuck as the business owner. Condition your mind as it is your most important asset. The more you master your mind, the more you can take control of your business, no matter the circumstances. The resources you have at your disposal or your skills will all go to waste if you have a poverty mindset. Take this trying time as an opportunity to grow your business and yourself. When you feel lost, return to your business's mission and vision. Why did you start? What are your goals? This crisis will end soon. But your business doesn't have to. Use these tips to help your small business survive and thrive during the pandemic. Hang in there. We're in this together. 😉
How-To 7 Simple Sustainable Living Tips To Save The Planet Right Now 11:03 PM 7 Simple Sustainable Living Tips Everything we do, from waking up in the morning to calling it a night, impacts the planet. You don't need a significant change to be a better earthling. Just do these seven simple, sustainable living tips to save the planet right now. What is sustainable living?Cambridge Dictionary defines sustainable as "causing little or no damage to the environment and therefore able to continue for a long time."Sustainable living is choosing a lifestyle that reduces your carbon footprint or negative environmental impact. For me, living sustainably is ensuring the next generation has enough natural resources left for them to survive and thrive. Is it hard? Here's what you can do:1. Turn off and unplug.Turn off gadgets and appliances when not in use. But that's not enough...Unplug them too! Even when idle, plugged electronics still consume energy. 2-10 watts or 6-10% of your appliance consumption comes from electrical items on "standby" mode.Unplugged appliances can be a fire hazard even when not in use.Living sustainably is as simple as turning off the light or unplugging the coffee machine.Giphy2. Reuse.Don't throw away that pasta sauce glass container yet. Instead, clean it and use it for keeping items or food. These bottles usually have tight and secure lids perfect for keeping the bugs out.Watch video tutorials on how to reuse plastic water containers, old clothes, tea bags, candle wax, and other used items instead of discarding them. With the information at your fingertips, there's no excuse for not knowing these awesome hacks.Tenor3. Be a conscious shopper.Always check the label. See if the ingredients being used are eco-friendly or cruelty-free. Opt for more sustainable alternatives at the grocery store, like picking paper stem cotton buds instead of plastic.Shopping for clothes? Avoid those that are made from non-biodegradable materials like nylon and polyester. Choose more environment-friendly organic cotton or Tencel.Gfycat4. Go paperless.Choose paperless invitations and notes. Thank God for technology; communication and sending information can now be done without printing paper.Read the news online.Choose email subscription or paperless receipts.Giphy5. Plant. What can be more sustainable than growing plants and trees? People may take plants for granted, but it gives us more than we can ask for. It provides us a sustained supply of food. It's the source of oxygen our body needs to survive and function.Plants can also be used as medicine and are good sources of nutrition.Plus, plants provide cleaner air, not to mention a gorgeous, calming view.Nature is a gift that keeps on giving. Agree?Giphy6. Go plant-based.Speaking of plants, choose plant-based food. Plant-based or vegan food is healthier for your body, rejects violence (no animal harmed!), and is safer for the planet. What would you pick to choose between growing your own food and killing a sentient being for a sandwich? Would you really do it if it's up to you to wrestle and kill the animal for food?Lucky us today because there are companies that produce sustainable products. Healthier meat alternatives are now available in giant food chains and are seeing a high increase in revenue."In mid-March (peak), sales of plant-based foods were up 90% year-over-year. For the 4 weeks following, plant-based food sales at retail grew 35% faster than total retail food sales." -Julie Emmett, Senior Director of Retail Partnerships at Plant-based Food AssociationThat's one heck of a growth!7. Support local, organic, sustainable brands.Buying locally means lesser shipping costs and a lower carbon footprint.Let's help sustainable organic brands grow because their products provide us a better option than what's available in the market. What natural, sustainable brands do you support? I personally recommend Human Nature. It's an ethical company with world-class, award-winning quality.GiphyEvery little thing you do impacts the planet. From the food you put on your plate to the shampoo you use, small daily habits like turning off the faucet when not in use, and adequately throwing your trash...you make a huge difference, my friend. You can leave the world a little better than you found it or make it unlivable.Never think that what you do doesn't matter. It does. You matter. You, dear one, maybe a tiny speck in the vast universe, but you can make an effective change and leave a dent. The question is, what kind of change are you making?Be a good earthling and steward to the creation. Follow these seven simple, sustainable living tips. The planet and future generations will thank you for it.
Freelancing Freelancing: The Best Decision I Ever Made 9:11 PM I'll be celebrating my 5th anniversary as a full-time freelancer this year. 🥳 I gotta say, freelancing has been the best decision I ever made career-wise.Freelancing: The Best Decision I Ever MadePre-freelancing lifeFor those who don't know, I'm a licensed pharmacist. But, I've always known my heart is in writing. When I was in college, I thought I'd work in a hospital, put up my own drugstore and maybe even have a few branches in different cities. Or franchise an already established pharmacy...and live happily ever after. But, things don't always work out the way we planned.I worked in a hospital and drugstore but putting up my own pharmacy didn't come to pass. One day I realized mixing and dispensing drugs weren't the things I wanted to do all my life.I really tried, but the heart wants what it wants. We heart itOne day, I passed by a BPO company and thought, "Well, why not?"I went in and applied. By the end of the day, I got a new job.A part-time freelancer's strugglesWhile working graveyard shifts in my new career, I found an opportunity to work online. It was an excellent way to get my foot inside the door of the freelancing world. But, it wasn't enough.I was underpaid, plus working at night was exhausting. I could barely function to work on my online tasks by the end of the shift. So, I quit and focused on my regular job.Villains of my freelancing story: Fear and ContentmentTwo things were stopping me from focusing on freelancing: my fear of uncertainty (I had zero ideas about freelancing back then) andthe contentment and security a regular job offers.I was at peace knowing I would get a certain amount of money by the end of the month.Change saved the dayAfter I transferred to a different company, I had a prodding to find an online gig again. My job then actually pays me more than the previous ones. The task was more difficult, but I was having fun.I enjoyed learning things, took advantage of the free training they offered, and liked where I was at that point in my life.I was more confident, independent, and, dare I say it---I was, bolder in making decisions. That's a totally different story, though.GiphyBack to freelancing's armsBefore I decided to freelance full-time five years ago, I had a lot of apprehension. What if it won't work, and I'll be out of money in no time? What if I can't do it? There's no one to ask. What if they won't pay me?I wasn't happy with my work anymore, though. I knew it was time to bid the traditional office setting goodbye. My will to find better opportunities was stronger than my fear. So, even though I was afraid, I decided to own it.TenorMan, it was terrifying. And tough at the start. The first few months of working online full-time were terrifying but liberating.I left the comfort and security of my job in one of Forbes' Fortune 500 companies. I made do with what little knowledge I had about freelancing.I made Google and YouTube, my teachers.I did what I could to survive. But surviving is not what I came here for. I believe God put me here to do great things.Freelancing in the time of C O V I DI knew there was more to accepting what cheapskate clients were giving me.Getting paid just enough to cover my bills and my necessities beat the purpose of leaving the corporate world.I always knew I wasn't born just to work, pay my bills, and die. There's more to life than keeping your nose to the grindstone. If this C OVID has taught me one thing (or validated what I already know), it's that nothing's sure in this world. You can lose the normal you know in an instant. Heck, our global economy was crashed by an unseen enemy.But...Like anything in life, the change could be challenging, but we learn to adapt. It's human nature. 💪Some changes are forced upon us, others we decide for ourselves.Freelancing is one of the best decisions I made. I found a gig as a content writer and haven't looked back since.Though it wasn't always easy, the past year has been the best because of this guy named John R Pagulayan. If there's one thing I can advise my younger self about freelancing, there are better, higher-paying clients. And I'd say:Younger self, go find John now, so you don't waste your time and energy with these cheapskate clients!I can't teach you how to become a freelancer, but the great news is that my coach John Pagulayan is about to hold a FREE Workshop, and I highly recommend you join because he's done a LOT to change my mindset and the way I treat my freelancing business. He's going to share how CO VID accidentally created 6-figure earners and how anyone can do it, too, even if you have✔️ no experience✔️ no skills✔️ no prior credentialsThis can also help you if you're already working online but✔️ sick and tired of working with cheapskates✔️ want to turn your freelancing into a lucrative business✔️ willing to learn how to win in your niche✔️ interested in getting more clients to find you and not the other way aroundUPDATE: Enrollment is now closed. How-To 7 Pros Of Working From Home With Tips 10:15 PM If you love what you do, it isn't your job; it is your love affair. -Debasish Mridha If you can work in the comfort of your home...Doing what you love to do...Earning more than what you're currently getting...Having more freedom of time...Why wouldn't you? Working from home is not stress-free. There are still challenges. But deciding to do it was the best career change I've made in my life. Because the advantages of working from home are more significant than the downside. Here are 7 pros of working from home that I've discovered. 7 Pros of Working from Home with Tips 1. No dress code You still need to look decent when you have a video call. You can dress up if you want to, but that's the advantage of working from home. No one will judge you even when you're in your sweats or pajamas all day.Let's face it, not having to wear a bra also feels more freeing. 👀 As long as you deliver your work, your clients won't ask whether you've showered or not. (Though I do shower to wake myself up. Just thought I'd let you know before you presume I work like this 👇) Gfycat When working from home, you can wear anything comfortable without worrying about breaking any rules. Because you make the rules. 💡 WORKING FROM HOME TIP: Invest in a good blazer or a presentable top/shirt that you can wear during an interview or conference call. Giphy 2. Commute or drive to work no more The distance between your workplace and your bed is just a few steps away. Some even have their bed and their home office in the same room. No more hassle of waiting for the bus or cab. No more long lines and fighting your way in the crowd so you won't miss the train. No more danger of getting robbed on your way to and from work. You don't have to worry about arriving or coming home late because you're stuck in traffic. Most importantly, no need to brave the weather just to get to work for fear of being reprimanded by your waterproof boss. Call Center Life 💡 WORKING FROM HOME TIPS: Don't work as much as possible in your bedroom, especially on your bed. This will help you stay productive and avoid the temptation of taking a nap during your working hours. It also conditions your mind that your bedroom is for relaxing and sleeping. So when you step inside the bedroom, your mind knows it is time to take a snooze.Keep your home secured at all times. It may be safer to work from home, but it doesn't mean you have to be lenient regarding security.Don't forget to invest in security, such as antivirus software to protect your computer work from hackers and a sound home security uk alarm system to protect you from thieves. This will give you peace of mind whether you're working at home or taking a break. It's hard to focus on both if your home safety is in question, right? How is your daily commute to work? Share your craziest story in the comments.Disclaimer: I wrote this post pre-p a n d e m i c 2018 and edited 2019. Please don't get offended by this gif. Giphy 3. No office politics or challenging people to deal with Don't we all have that annoying person at work we dread seeing? Have you not put on your headphones and blasted music in your ears to block the noise of nonsense gossip around you? And does it not irritate you when someone who works less gets recognized more just because they're drinking buddies with the boss? Is your boss a toddler trapped in an adult's body, throwing tantrums when things don't go his way? How many times have you faked a smile or tried to look calm even when you feel like throwing a fit yourself? Sarcasmlol When you work from home, you eliminate this kind of toxicity in your life. Giphy ⭐ LIFE TIP: If it costs you your peace, it's too expensive.Unsubscribe from other people's drama. Some people are not worth your time and emotion. 4. Choose your view Whether you want to work in front of your window, in the kitchen, or anywhere in your house, you can. Bring your work outside or in the coffee shop for a change (that aroma of freshly baked bread and coffee is a good stimulus). Giphy Or better yet... 5. Travel with your work You can bring your work wherever you go as long as it's convenient and you know you can still be productive. If there's a good internet connection and electricity, you're good to go. New place, fresh ideas. 💡 WORKING FROM HOME TIP: If you need to bring your work on your trip, set aside a day and time for work. You don't want to ruin a beautiful holiday. I don't advise bringing your work when you travel for leisure. Not only will it add to your luggage, but it also beats the purpose of vacation. Pinterest 6. More time for yourself You can finish your work either at the time agreed with your client or whenever you want, depending on your arrangement. Since you don't have to take the time to commute from home to the office and vice versa, and no colleague is inviting you to unwind after a stressful day at work, you have a lot of extra time in your hands. If you want to keep your day productive after working, you can run errands, clean your working area, organize your files, update your blog if you have one, watch a tutorial or inspiring speech or learn from other people in the same field. Or relax. Sleep. You need it. Catch up on your reading. Take a walk. Meditate. Work out. Serve the community. Get a massage. Find a new hobby. If you like to earn more, you can use your extra time to look for another client or work on some extra gig. You are the king/queen of your time. You do you. Giphy 7. More time with what matters most When you're staying home, you get to see the people or the reasons why you're working. You have the luxury of spending quality time with your loved ones. Go on a date with your partner. Meet a friend. Spend more time with your pets. One of our dogs sleeping ON my foot while I'm working. Had to capture that precious moment in-between editing. Clingy dog #1 Clingy dog #2 UPDATE: Now that I'm married, I spend more time with my husband. He accompanies me when I need to work outside due to inevitable instances like a power outage. That's an unplanned and productive date right there. You can't have it all. Like everything else in life, nothing is perfect. There are still challenges with working from home. 💡 WORKING FROM HOME TIP: Google and YouTube tutorials are your friends. When I first started, no one in my circle doing freelancing. But because I was determined to make the shift, I researched it. I attended seminars. As they say, if you want something wrong enough, you find a way, not an excuse. Join a fantastic group of freelancers. Here's one I highly recommend 👉 The Freelance Movement Workshop. This is where I learned freelancing hacks. I wish I knew when I was starting. Once you've found your rhythm, you keep learning and improving your skills, and you don't forget your BIG WHY. You will find that the pros of this work far outweigh the cons.
