Rants Stop Blaming Religion, The Government, The Weather Or Your Neighbor's Dog For Your Messed Up Life 11:09 PM Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. - Charles R. Swindoll Stop blaming religion, the government, the weather or your neighbor's dog for your messed up life. Yes, the government should be giving us what we deserve from the tax they collect from us every freaking time we receive our salary or spend our money. Yes, the government should not be stealing from us, should be fixing the problem of our country from poverty to education to healthcare to infrastructures. But, the government can't throw our trash for us so as to avoid clogging of drainage which eventually causes flood. I think no matter how well constructed our roads are, if we keep on treating our streets as garbage areas it will always clog. The government can't pass your exams for you. You have to do it. Study. Stop partying, and spending your allowance on drugs and booze until you've got none left to pay for your tuition fee. The government won't make your resume and look for jobs for you. You have to move your lazy ass. The government can't save a portion of your salary for you and invest it to secure your future. If you let your tax end your dreams, then you're doomed. If you didn't sleep because you partied all night, who's fault is it that you feel crappy waking up? Stop blaming religion. It's okay if you don't believe in higher power, that's your choice. No one's questioning your faith, or the lack thereof. But to blame religion for your poverty? For war? For you acne breakout? Are you saying other people's belief is messing up your perfect world? But, your beliefs aren't messing up their lives. They're not blaming you for their tribulations, aren't they? They're taking responsibility. If you expect ONLY the faithful, ONLY the government or ONLY the church leaders/organizations to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless and clothe the naked, isn't it passing the responsibility to others? Aren't you saying "that's your job, not mine. I've got nothing to do with that?" What makes you different from the rest of the world that you're criticizing. What makes you better? I believe peace begins inside all of us. Like happiness, it's an inside job. You can't expect to live in a quiet world, when your inner world is in pandemonium. Because you can't give something you don't have. You can't demand a peaceful workplace when you don't want to live harmoniously with the people around you, when you look for trouble constantly and you love conflict, when it's your hobby to provoke others. You can't demand for a great life if you're living in mediocrity. You can't ask for an abundant future if you don't even have the self-control over your finances. You can't blame the world for your illness if you haven't been taking care of yourself. If you keep on pointing fingers and blaming others for your mishaps, it's like saying your life, your destiny, everything about you is controlled by others. It's like saying you're helpless and you can only improve your life if they will change or improve it for you. It's saying they are responsible for you. You can't change the world, but you can change yourself. You can't control the government, but you can control yourself. It's not the government's, the religion's, the weather's or your neighbor's life to live. It's yours. Why will you let your life be controlled by these external factors? Why will you give them an authority to shape your destiny? Are you that helpless? Life is what YOU make it. Not what the government, the religion, the weather or your neighbor's dog make. Please.Grow some balls and start taking responsibility. Look at where you are contributing to the situation. You can't be that innocent. It takes two to tango. It's your life. Own it.

Life Lessons What It Really Means To Turn The Other Cheek 11:33 AM Contrary to popular belief that turning the other cheek means being a push over, turning the other cheek actually means demanding to be treated as an equal. Here's why: Jesus lived in a different time during which people have different cultures. During His time, there are different types of slaps. Open-palm slap is the slap of a master to a slave. A backhand slap is the slap of equals. When Jesus said, “If someone slaps you on the right cheek (an open-palm slap), turn your left cheek". Meaning, ask the other person to give you a backhand slap. Demand your abuser to treat you not as his subordinate or slave, but as his equal. To turn the other cheek is to show your disapproval of how you're being treated. It was a hallelujah moment when I first heard this at The Feast. Jesus does not want us to be powerless after all. He wants us to know our worth and demand to be treated justly, not to be belittled. He urges us to know our right and fight for it. He's teaching us to demand respect. He indeed came to give us life and have it in full. So the next time someone treats you badly, go ahead and turn the other cheek. It's the right thing to do. Hey, did you find this post helpful or entertaining? Please go ahead and share. Lux Thinking Aloud What I Do, What I Love 8:13 AM Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. -Confucius I'll be a hypocrite if I say I love my job 100%. I don't. But, it pays the bills and puts food on the table. It also provides great opportunities for growth so I stick with it. There are days when it drives me craaaazy and there are days when I feel like I'm not working at all, so there's a balance somewhere. I help keep the business going for this Forbes Fortune 500 company. I get to meet equally crazy people. I get to enjoy the privileges that come with working with this firm. Not well-compensated sad to say, but I'd say I'm still blessed to have a decent job. It's not something that I love doing, but it's what I do. So, I've learned to love it anyway. What I Do, What I Love I love to write. I'm not a good writer technically speaking. I always break the grammar rules. But when I write, I write with all my heart. So yes, I get carried away sometimes and it's ugly but a lot of people learn from that ugliness. So, I've been told. It's a win-win situation. I get to do what I love. People get to learn from them. Sometimes people pay for me to write, sometimes I write for free. It doesn't matter. Writing gives me a sense of purpose and fulfillment. So as long as I can, I will keep on writing. (Sorry haters. I'd be keeping you busy for a long time). I have ventured into micro-businesses. Just recently, selling the product I know, trust and absolutely love is one of them. Human Heart Nature is making waves locally and now abroad not only for their all organic, natural, safe and affordable products but also because of their endeavor. I love it because it's pro-poor, pro-environment and pro-Philippines. I don't just use organic products, I also help my country become progressive (watch their story here). What could be better than that? Earning while doing what you love; at the same time, saving the environment and making a difference to other people's lives, while pursuing my love for writing. That's what I love, so that's what I do. Google images Hey, did you find this post helpful or entertaining? Please go ahead and share. Share buttons on the left and at the bottom of the article. Lux Thinking Aloud R.I.P. Robin Williams 3:41 PM It was another uneventful day. That is, until I've heard about Robin Williams' death. I'm not a huge fan. But, Genie in Aladdin is one of the most lovable and hilarious Disney characters I know. The Dead Poets Society is one of the most poignant films I've ever seen. So is Good Will Hunting and What Dreams May Come. I laughed and cried watching Mrs. Doubtfire and Patch Adams. I've just realized that Robin Williams was a part of my childhood and growing up years. It's weird when you know that death is a part of life, but you still feel lost and numb when someone you know passes away. Just like now. R.I.P. Robin Williams I've read about Robin Williams' depressions and ignored it. It's another ordinary Hollywood news, I thought. No big deal. How callous of me. Here's this man who made me laugh---and cry in his movies and there I was not giving it much thought. I've never pictured Robin Williams dead. How silly of me. Maybe it's because when you look up to someone, you always see them strong and invincible not even death can touch them. Then again, at least now he's not suffering anymore. No more depressions. No more battles. No more bondage. He's now free as he was as Genie. Goodbye, Captain. And to borrow Aladdin's lines, "Genie, you're free...I'm gonna miss you". Quotes St. Augustine's Quotes 5:01 AM I'm a true-blue Augustinian, having attended Augustinian schools from kindergarten to college. Since August is the feast month of St. Augustine, I thought of compiling some quotes from this saint I sort of grew up knowing. First, why is St. Augustine a saint? photo credit St. Augustine's Quotes The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page. ~ There is something in humility which strangely exalts the heart. ~ Patience is the companion of wisdom. ~ Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe. ~ What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. That is what love looks like. ~ The punishment of every disordered mind is its own disorder. ~ The Bible was composed in such a way that as beginners mature, its meaning grows with them. ~ Life is a misery, death an uncertainty. ~ And men go abroad to admire the heights of mountains, the mighty waves of the sea, the broad tides of rivers, the compass of the ocean, and the circuits of the stars, yet pass over the mystery of themselves without a thought. ~ It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men as angels. ~ Do you wish to rise? Begin by descending. You plan a tower that will pierce the clouds? Lay first the foundation of humility. ~ Since you cannot do good to all, you are to pay special attention to those who, by the accidents of time, or place, or circumstances, are brought into closer connection with you. ~ He that is jealous is not in love. ~ If two friends ask you to judge a dispute, don't accept, because you will lose one friend; on the other hand, if two strangers come with the same request, accept because you will gain one friend. ~ God loves each of us as if there were only one of us. ~ If you believe what you like in the gospels, and reject what you don't like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself. ~ This is the very perfection of a man, to find out his own imperfections. ~ Beauty is indeed a good gift of God; but that the good may not think it a great good, God dispenses it even to the wicked. ~ The greatest evil is physical pain. ~ God is best known in not knowing Him. ~ Seek not to understand that you may believe, but believe that you may understand. ~ Love, and do what you like. ~ The confession of evil works is the first beginning of good works. ~ He who created us without our help will not save us without our consent. ~ He that is kind is free, though he is a slave; he that is evil is a slave, though he be a king. ~ Repentant tears wash out the stain of guilt. ~ The words printed here are concepts.
