On a scale of 1-10, how stressed are you? 11?
With the fast-paced lifestyle and deadlines to beat, who’s got time for a vacation to de-stress? Not everyone. That's alright. You can always de-stress even without leaving your desk. All it takes is a little creativity and knowledge on how to manage and beat stress.
Try these 5 simple ways to de-stress even when you're just at your desk.
5 Simple Ways to De-Stress At Your Desk
Calm your breathing
Breathing is often taken for granted. When you’re pressured, your breathing shortens or becomes irregular. This causes your body to get more tensed. Deep breathing instantly calms your mind and body. It brings you to a relaxed state.

Play good music
Good music means melodic, calming tunes and fun encouraging lyrics. But if loud rock music is your cup of tea, go ahead and have a dose of it, too. Just be careful not to listen to lyrics promoting violence or hatred.Psychology Today reports: “a number of research findings about the immediate psychological and medical benefits of music: increased happiness, less stress, reduced depression symptoms, greater autonomy, and increased competence, hope, and optimism.”

Play
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Playing games keeps your mind off the cause of your worry or stress for a while. Luckily, there is a wide range of online games to choose from. You can select an online game that suits your mood.Playing online games (in moderation) is beneficial. It can boost your memory and creativity, can help you make faster decisions, and of course, it lessens stress.
Be sure to time yourself though so you don't get carried away and forget about your tasks.

Eat
Good news! You can eat your way out of stress. There are foods that can boost your mood. Dark chocolates, fish (salmon), fruits and vegetables, saffron, walnuts, coffee and eggs are just a few that you can add to your diet to improve your mood and ease your stress. Bon appetit!

Be optimistic
You can go through life either happy or miserable. Either way, you’re still gonna go through it. So why not choose happiness while you’re at it? Worrying or stressing out will not solve the problem, nor will it lessen it. It will only make it worse. So, cheer up. Life’s too short to be miserable. Breathe, sing, play, eat, and be merry.

Your little gifs said it all, friend! Super post!
ReplyDeleteHi, Lux!
ReplyDeleteThese are excellent tips for de-stressing at work, at home or wherever you might be. Taking a deep breath really does help you to become calm, centered and focused. When I was young I listened to loud rock 'n' roll music while doing my homework. These days I can only tolerate mild background music when trying to concentrate on my writing or other thinking tasks. It's a different story when it's time to exercise. I use loud, invigorating music with a beat to inspire productive workouts. Play is more fun than work. Therefore, I try to find a way to turn all forms of work into play. Make it a game. Challenge yourself. It's fun and rewarding. Food is fuel. If you select the right mixture, you will reap the benefits. I agree that a positive attitude yields positive results.
Thank you, dear friend Luxie!
These are all great ways to make it though the day far easier. I so remember.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. ☺
Lovely post dear!Have a great Friday! xx

ReplyDeleteI need these tips even when I am at home. In the name of de-stress of course which presumably we can avoid these days but we can do something no doubt.
ReplyDeleteBeing optimistic is what I'm always trying to be. It's very unhealthy to be bathing in negative thought all the time. I like to be positive and happy, and enjoy life :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat post and perfect tips!

You've listed some great points here, in particular slowing/steadying your breathing, as well as remaining optimistic. I love how you mention going through life miserable or happy, that's such a good point we may as well choose the latter! :)

I love this post! I had a really stressful desk job before I became a stay at home mom. My stress level was usually a 15!! We weren't allowed to listen to music :( BUT some breathing exercises and a little chocolate would have helped!

ReplyDeleteI may not be at work, but I find that school is a pretty stressful place to be sometimes too! I definitely use the deep breathing. I learned it in my first yoga session and it has stuck with me through hard situations ever since.

This is perfect for me right now. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJust what I needed to read. My youngest daughter is getting married in 6 days and I'm stressing a little about it. I need to just take deeper breaths and put on some praise music and be grateful for the million blessings surrounding this upcoming marriage!
ReplyDeleteGreat tips. While breathing is so widely practiced, I binge on food when I'm stressed. The wrong foods too. I have to train myself to do it right. Thanks a lot for these.

What excellent tips! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteTHanks for the tips ~ I will also add: get up and do some light stretches to the back and legs~
ReplyDeleteI love the one about being optimistic, I should work on that! Great tips.
ReplyDeleteBeing optimistic/positive is the best remedy for stress. I can say it because I tried it. I am always stressed at work. I always complain. I always said bad things against my bosses and other people who I consider the causes of office problems. I always spew negativity all over.
ReplyDeleteThen I said to myself one day that I have to stop. I said to God that I will try to stop saying negative things against people. I tried it and I think it's improving my situation in the office. The office problems are still there but I am less affected by it.
Breathing and Music always does the trick :D I can't be sure about eating because if I eat, it would be non stop :P Great pointers :D
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great post! I think that eating always makes everything better

Great tips for de-stressing. Cute dog playing computer games - one way to relax!
ReplyDeleteHi Lux interesting destressing strategies. Sometimes taking a walk can help too especially if there's a breathe of fresh air to go with the stroll😉
ReplyDeleteNow that I work from home I find that I'm a lot less stressed and I can play all the music that I want!
ReplyDeleteI like the eating idea. Although it's not good for the waistline here. Too many sugary snacks available. I often listen to music if I want to really concentrate. It does help stress as well.
ReplyDeleteI'd probably add, taking a break. Go for a quick walk around the block. Always makes me feel better.

Lovely.
ReplyDeleteAnd for me, take time out to watch nature. The garden, the sky...
These are all really great tips. I wholeheartedly agree about playing music. I have it on all the time, especially when I'm cleaning.
