Life Lessons Replace Toxic Action With Terrific Action 5:06 PM But one thing I do: Forgetting what lies behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 3:13-14 Replace Toxic Action With Terrific Action Toxic Action is the result of following your toxic feelings. When let your anger, depression, anxiety, and other negative feelings get the better of you, you act in a toxic way. You lash out, you do irrational things, you become suicidal at some point, and you act in a destructive way to simple and shallow things. The antidote to toxic feelings is terrific acting. When you change and control your action, you change and control your emotions. There are days when you don't feel like doing good, when you are discouraged, and when you just want to explode. The best thing to do to counter these feelings, is to continue to do good anyway. Smile anyway, show up anyway, be happy anyway. Easier said than done, but it works (believe me, I'm talking from experience). Here are some points from Bro. Alvin Barcelona: Even when you don't feel like doing the right thing, just do the right thing anyway. Sooner or later, you'll begin to like doing it. Even when you don't feel like getting up from your bed, get up from your bed anyway. Sooner or later, you'll find yourself up, awake, and alive! Even when you don't feel like going to work, go to work anyway. Sooner or later, you'll find yourself working and loving your work! Even when you don't feel like loving your husband or your wife, love him / love her anyway. Sooner or later, you'll love loving him, you’ll love loving her. Even when you don't feel like praying, pray anyway. Sooner or later, you'll love praying and you’ll find out prayer Works! Even when you don't feel like worshipping, worship anyway. Raise your hands anyway. Sing anyway. Sooner or later, you'll love worshipping God. Be consistent in doing what is right, even when you feel exactly the opposite. Health & Wellness Detox From Negative Thoughts 10:10 PM Men are disturbed not by the things that happen, but by their opinion of the things that happen. -Epictetus Detox From Negative Thoughts Your imagination is the remote control of your emotions. That's the big message. It's all in the mind. We often hear that. This is because our thinking produces our reality. When we think about something repeatedly for a long time, it affects our emotions. Our imagination, affects us in a huge way. The way we perceive things dictates our actions, our decisions, and in turn affects our future and our lives. Whether the situation we are in is hopeful or not, whether our problems are big or irrelevantly small, whether we can surpass life's test or not, it is all up to our perception. We will always encounter toxic situations. It's inevitable. But, we can always detoxify from it. First is by taking a step back and looking at things from a third person's perspective. This one works for me. Every time I catch myself so focused on an issue, I take a step back and look at it like I would watch a movie scene. Once I detach myself from it or I try to be objective, I see things clearly, I can think of a way to resolve it, and eventually detoxify from it. Second, change the scene from your mind. Change how you see things. Change your take on something. Oftentimes, when we change the way we look at a situation, we change our feelings about it. We create things in our minds first, and then through our actions. Positive thoughts, obviously create positive outcome and emotions, just as negative thoughts create positive outcome and emotions. Your imagination is the remote control of your emotions. Control your imagination. Health & Wellness Detox From Toxic Feelings 8:47 PM What you can feel, you can heal. The reason most of us get sick is because we poison ourselves with negative thoughts and emotions. We need to detox from toxic feelings. Every sickness brings a message. Our body is telling us something's wrong which is why some people get depression. Science agrees that emotions affect our total wellness: Hopelessness causes lung problems. Probably. Sometimes when you feel down you find it hard to breathe. Rigidity causes migraine. When you want something done to the last detail and it does not come to be, it gives you terrible terrible headache, doesn't it? Anger causes insomnia. Aggressiveness causes gastric ulcers. Anxiety causes digestive problems and skin problems. So, how do we get rid of toxic feelings? Detox From Toxic Feelings 1. Feel your feelings. Don't deny it. The more you deny it, the more it will eat you up. There's a difference between experiencing and expressing your feelings though. There are times when you feel like killing someone out of hate, but it's another thing to express it. That's where owning your feelings comes in. If you're sad, happy, scared or mad, you need to recognize that you are. Feeling your feelings is showing love to yourself. It's recognizing and valuing how you feel. Emotions are teachers. It teaches us about ourselves. Why do we get angry or why do we worry about something? Why do we get hurt? Maybe because we have an inner wound. Or maybe because there's an insecurity within us that we need to heal. Emotions are healers. What you can feel, you can heal. Once you know what's giving you such feelings, you will know what to do about it or how to avoid feeling it. You will only find the solution to the problem if you know what the real problem is. 2. Own your emotions. Don't let your emotions own you or it will control your life. It's amazing to know that we can actually control how we feel. We can let ourselves worry, get mad or feel down or we can choose to be happy and grateful. 3. Control your emotions. Emotion is said to be an energy in motion. So when you feel sad, energize to reflect. Reflect on the things in your life, get in touch with you inner self. When you're mad, energize righteousness. I know it's easier said than done. I for one find it hard to divert my attention when I am angry because I seldom feel it. I'm unfamiliar with how to deal with it. So what I do is write about it (writing is a good therapy), and not let anger overwhelm me. When you're glad, energize to serve. Transfer your gladness by reaching out to those in need. When scared, energize caution. Being scared is our brains' way of warning us from danger or from something unfamiliar. We can't control how things happen around us, but we have the last say on what to do with it. We can cleanse our body from the toxins of negative emotions if we allow ourselves to. Modern medicine is a huge help in healing our sickness, but it only can work with the physical. Getting into the root of our sickness is more important. Our feelings play a major role in our health. Don't be a slave of your feelings. Detox from toxic feelings by owning your feelings and being the master of your emotions. Detox from The Feast talk. Stories I've Moved On 7:50 AM I've long stopped hoping for a change. I've long accepted the truth. I've moved on. From that horrific and dreadful day you left me in the middle of the storm, I've moved on. I've come a long way. I've never been better. Moving on from day one wasn't a walk in the park. I crawled. You should have seen me. You would have been proud of what you've done. Every day, I would drag myself. I'd get up heavily, act as normally as I could. I would plaster a smile on my face, and pretend everything's alright while I was dying inside. I was bleeding non-stop. You cut me deep. I've picked up the pieces, no thanks to you. I don't know where I was getting all those superhuman strength that got me to where I am today. Away from you and your memory, away from your lies and your bullshit. It's been a long time since I've stopped waiting for an apology, or a proper explanation which I so deserve. I've long stopped hoping for a change. I've long accepted the truth. It wasn't easy. I can't even... But that's not important anymore. How I got here, how I've moved on, how I got over it...it doesn't matter. One day I woke up, and the pain is gone. The hurting just stopped. So did my waiting. So did my hoping. I've moved on. I've reduced you into nothing but a blur. I built a wall between you and my today; you're not allowed to go past it. You can't, in any way, come near my present. Because I've moved on. So, stop asking how I'm doing. You don't deserve to know. See also: Keep Walking
