Temptation Trails By Claire Kingsley Book Review

I was so pumped to get an ARC (advance reader copy) of Claire Kingsley’s Temptation Trails. As a fan of her work (I read ALL her books!), I dove in with high hopes. Let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint. This latest addition to Kingsley’s masterpieces delivers everything I expect in a romantic suspense novel. From page one, I was hooked. If you’re looking for a page-turner, my Temptation Trails book review might pique your interest.

Temptation Trails Book Summary

🍪 Harper Tilburn: Superstitious town baker

“Her eyes were a mesmerizing green. But it was her smile that almost knocked me over. Big, bright, beautiful. She was gorgeous. I blinked. What was I doing there?” - Garrett describing Harper

🚨 Garrett Haven: Single dad, sheriff’s deputy

“He was such a heady combination of handsome, intimidating, and drop-dead sexy. The kind of man who made you contemplate breaking the law just so he could arrest you.” - Harper describing Garrett

Temptation Trails Book Review

Rating

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

🌶🌶🌶

Temptation Trails is a gripping romantic suspense. It made me exercise my detective skills and inquisitive mind while I was swept away by a swoon-worthy romance that raced my heart. It’s another Claire Kingsley hit—small-town suspense romance at its finest.

What I like

  • Garrett Haven. The kind of law enforcement officer you’d like to have in your town, the imperfect father who loves unconditionally, and the lover you dream of having.
  • Perfect pacing. Never boring, never rushed.
  • Sizzling chemistry. Garrett’s flustered moments around Harper are gold. There’s instant attraction. You’ll feel that magnetic pull when they’re around each other.
  • Owen’s character arc. From problematic teen to the young man Garrett Haven raised: protective, brave, selfless, and just plain adorable.
  • Tilikum. Reading another book set in one of my favorite fictional towns is like coming home. They may be quirky, but the residents always show up when needed.
  • Strong female friendship. I love women supporting women.

Minor Quibbles:

I’m not superstitious, so I couldn’t relate to bad luck ruling her life whenever Harper mentions it.

Verdict

Will recommend it faster than another Tilikum squirrel could steal a cookie.

Favorite Scenes

  • The pizza box
  • Heartwarming, wholesome moments between Harper and Owen

Favorite Quotes

“When I’m with you, I feel whole in a way I’ve never felt before. I can’t explain it. Maybe it’s crazy and maybe it’s too fast, but I don’t care. I love you.”

“My dreams were coming true, even the ones I’d been too afraid to dream. I couldn’t have imagined a better happy ending to our story. And really, we were just beginning.”

  1. It will be nice if they will translate these books into Dutch as well. Can do some English but reading a book in that language is a bit difficult for me. But thanks for this post. Wish you beautiful days.

  7. Hi, Lux!

I enjoyed your latest book review. It effectively conveyed the powerful chemistry between the two main characters. While I don't have another romance novel to suggest, I can name two romance films I have watched and enjoyed, both revolving around young women who work in food preparation. In the 2022 TV movie The Way to the Heart, Meghan Heffern stars as a big city chef who has lost her mojo. She returns to her small hometown in rural Canada where she regains her passion for food and finds romance. In the 2017 TV movie An Hour Behind, Emily Rose (Haven's "Audrey") stars as a dessert and pastry baker who finds love in a case of blind date mistaken identity.

I return to blogging tomorrow with a new post at Shady's Place and invite you to join the Halloween-inspired fun. Have a wonderful week, dear friend Lux!
