Decorating Your Garden Shed

Your garden shed does not have to be the utility storage location many people assume it to be as color, furniture and accessories can create a vibrant space which is a sanctuary for you.  There are a number of ways that you can enhance the décor of your garden shed without much trouble.

Decorating Your Garden Shed

Using Color

A great way to be creative with the color of your shed is to have 2 or 3 complimentary colors and paint different sections of the paneling in different colors.  This will add a bit of personality to the space and allow you to customize it.  You can also use colors that compliment that overall décor of your garden.  If you are looking for a coastal feel to the garden you should look at colors such as emerald slate and barleywood.

Neutral Colors

If you have a large shed, you might want to consider a neutral or cool color for the outside as this can make the shed feel homier.  You could look at contrasting these neutral colors with a bold shade inside the shed such as Lavender.  Unexpected bursts of color seen through the window or open door can create an atmosphere or comfort.

There are a number of accessories that you can also use such as painted flower pots and comfortable garden chairs to enhance the interior.  Upcycling some crates can also increase the amount of storage inside the shed while keeping the rustic look that you might want.

Utilize Space

There are a lot of people who have limited space in their gardens, but this does not mean that you cannot invest in a garden hideaway of your own.  Small sheds can provide you with extra room if you are creative enough.  You can also create the illusion of space by using a lighter color for the interior of the shed.

You can add some character to the exterior of the shed by painting it a vivid color.  These colors will work well with a paler shade inside the shed as well as pale trims.  Accent colors should also be considered when you look at the furniture in your shed.  To create more space with your furniture, you should look at interior furniture that matches the exterior furniture in your garden as this created a flow between the 2 spaces.

  1. I loooove garden sheds and I like to have as a retreat with nice things, to relax! Using colours is so nice, to create the perfect mood, that we may need on "different days". I loved our blog! Hope you have a nice day!

  2. We don’t have shed (or decent size garden) but if we did, it would be fun to do some painting and decorating :-)
