9 Incredibly Easy Steps You Can Do That Will Change Your Life

Change does not happen overnight. But there are incredibly easy steps you can do that will change your life for the better---forever.

1. Change your mindset

It all starts in the mind. You can't improve your life if you don't change the movie playing in your head. Outward changes manifest what is happening internally. It will not be easy at first.

You will keep returning what you're used to thinking---especially if you've been doing it for a long time.

I've tried this super simple imagination exercise and how it changed my perspective! How it changed my life. I know you can do it too.

As the genius Albert Einstein once said, "Logic will get you from A to Z; imagination will get you everywhere."

It's your turn

2. Proclaim it

Your words can change your world. So, whatever you want to change in your life, proclaim it. Claim it as if it's already there.

This is not just some New Age belief. It's been proven scientifically by Dr. Masaru Emoto's Water Experiment.

Our words are powerful. We must start harnessing that power and use it to improve our lives.
Proclaim blessings in your life. Proclaim healing. You'll be amazed to see that this easy step will change your life.

3. Change your looks

Changing your looks will change your life. When you see something different in the mirror, your mind will get the signal that "Hey, things have changed. It's different now."

You don't have to spend a lot to change your looks. To begin with, you can simply change your hairstyle. Get a new haircut, color your hair, or if you're too afraid to do so, get a wig or hair extension first.

It's remarkable that Clip in Human Hair Extension and Tape In Hair Extension not only look like natural human hair, but they have a lot of styles and colors to choose from.

4. Get a new hobby

I've learned that getting rid of an old hobby is not enough. You must replace it with a new one. If you used to spend 3 hours on social media doing nothing productive, you can't just take that away and not replace it with another activity.

What will you do with your vacant 3 hours? Chances are, you'll get back to it eventually.

Get a new hobby.

  • Read a good book (because crappy books will bore you, and you might go online again).
  • Learn to do something new.
  • Try going for a walk or run instead.
  • Learn a new recipe.

You'll be surprised at how wonderful it is to be out there again and be one with nature. Paint, sketch, and work out. Keep yourself entertained with a new hobby.

5. Let go

You can't change your life if you keep holding on to the past. Or some people who are not contributing to your well-being.

Leave your emotional baggage behind. Let go of your regrets, your mistakes, your what-ifs and could-have-been. Let go of your Dementors---people who suck out your energy and happiness whenever they're around.

Know when to say goodbye and let go.

6. Keep on learning

"The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know."

Who said that? Only the genius Albert Einstein. Keep on learning. Be an eternal student. Attend a workshop. There are free online webinars, and you can learn many things from them. Learn to play an instrument.

The internet makes DIYs and tutorials accessible in a few clicks.

7. Volunteer

Give your gift of time, talent, and treasure to those in need. No tiny act of service and kindness has ever been wasted. Search for organizations that help the charity of your choice or whose advocacy you support.

When you change people's lives by what you do, you change yours. It's funny how that works the other way around, too.

8. Travel

Ah, yes. Traveling. I can attest to how it changes life. Travel and see how tiny a space you occupy in this big world.

Travel and realize that the problem you've been focusing on is just a teeny tiny speck in this vast universe. That even heartbreak is so trivial compared to how profound the crisis some people face on the other side of the globe is.

Travel and marvel at the beauty of nature. Travel and be in awe of how different we are, yet we are all the same as people. Travel and be a storyteller.

Travel and change your life for the better. If budget is a problem, my friend Becky has tips on being a traveler when you can't travel.

9. Quit

  • Quit waiting for things to happen.
  • Quit chasing people.
  • Quit taking crap from people.
  • Quit settling.
  • Quit arguing with a fool.
  • Quit your bad habits that are slowly destroying you.
  • Quit beating yourself up.

There are crazy things I quit to be crazy happy. Maybe it's your story, too.

It is never too late to be what you might have been. (George Eliot)

If you want to change your life for the better, you can. Change may not be easy, but there are easy steps you can take to work towards the life you want.

Start today.

Wait! I've got more stories for you...

  8. Very good points here, Lux! I think changing our looks is easier than changing our mindset, but changing our mindset, in my opinion, will help to keep us happier.

  11. Hi, Lux!

These are excellent steps that we can take now to change our lives. I encourage every reader to click the link to the imagination exercise because it us equally useful. I have been "preaching" these same principles for decades. In the early 80s I acquired these life changing skills, tools and techniques in motivational self-help seminar programs and they have been guiding me ever since. There is power in a daily affirmation that begins with "I am..." instead of "I wish..." If you can already vividly see yourself being the kind of person you always dreamed of being and living the life you always wanted, and have adopted the habits, thought patterns, posture and walk of a winner, then you are well on your way. Letting go of all the baggage that has been weighing you down is essential. Change is good including a change of scene. Singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett spoke to this in his song and album "Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes." Thank you very much for posting these valuable principles. They are simple yet powerful steps toward a better, happier, more fulfilled life.

Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Lux!

  35. Loved every single one of these suggestions. It's funny cause through a different mindset and some daily changes we have the potential to change our lives. It's not necessary to do something extravagant for it. Things like knowing when to say goodbye, change our mindsets, our looks or going to some adventure are simple and extremly effective. Thanks for sharing dear.

  37. Awesome tips and suggestions. I always used to say: "You build your own reality." We are infinitely powerful to live whatever life we most desire, but it definitely takes some work and determination. And healthy habits take approximately a month to establish, so if I was going to add anything, I'd say, "Be patient with yourself."

  42. Dear Lux, 9 great suggestions and an excellent post! I really like these posts with Lux Thinking Aloud! If I could add emphasis to any one suggestion it would be to get outside for a walk. The benefits are great and once you make it a habit you will never want to give it up. Thanks for all your posts in January ... wow, you have been busy! Hope all is well with you. Sending you best regards from Seattle!

  48. Great tips. I've been thinking I need a change in hairstyle. I've seriously had the same hairstyle for 20 years or so. I don't like short hair, but there's a lot I can do with mid-length hair that I need to try!

  56. Such a great post, Lux. I agree it's never too late. I'll be 65 this year and it's only been in the past few years that I've been blogging, trying new things, writing poetry, etc. I even cut my hair and it fits my personality better now. Anyway, changes can be good and we need to pursue our dreams no matter how old we are. :) Blessings to you! I'm your neighbor at #DanceWithJesus.
