When The Devil Tries Too Hard

Written for and shared on The Praying Woman

I've noticed that every time I'm close to reaching my goal or feeling too happy, the devil tries too hard to snatch my happiness away. He tries so hard to dampen my spirit and make me feel really really bad.

I've read somewhere that you'll know if you're really close to your dreams when the devil is working double time to delay you, discourage you and make you quit. He takes away everything important to you to distract you.  He doesn't really have to do anything major to stop you. He just have to take your eyes off your goal and the rest is up to you.

When The Devil Tries Too Hard

Remember these passages:

I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten--the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm--my great army that I sent among you. --- Joel 2:25

After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before. --- Job 42:10

The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. --- Psalm 121:7

I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me. --- Philippians 4:13

Because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. ---James 1:3

These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold--though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. ---1 Peter 1:7

The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. --- Psalm 23:1

Rescue me from my enemies, O LORD. I come to you for protection. ---Psalm 143:9

For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. ---Psalm 91:11

And here's my new favorite.  Such a beautiful promise.

God, your God, will restore everything you lost; he'll have compassion on you; he'll come back and pick up the pieces from all the places where you were scattered. No matter how far away you end up, God, your God, will get you out of there and bring you back to the land your ancestors once possessed. It will be yours again. He will give you a good life and make you more numerous than your ancestors. God, your God, will cut away the thick calluses on your heart and your children's hearts, freeing you to love God, your God, with your whole heart and soul and live, really live.  God, your God, will put all these curses on your enemies who hated you and were out to get you. And you will make a new start, listening obediently to God, keeping all his commandments that I'm commanding you today. God, your God, will outdo himself in making things go well for you: you'll have babies, get calves, grow crops, and enjoy an all-around good life. Yes, God will start enjoying you again, making things go well for you just as he enjoyed doing it for your ancestors. But only if you listen obediently to God, your God, and keep the commandments and regulations written in this Book of Revelation. Nothing halfhearted here; you must return to God, your God, totally, heart and soul, holding nothing back. This commandment that I'm commanding you today isn't too much for you, it's not out of your reach. It's not on a high mountain - you don't have to get mountaineers to climb the peak and bring it down to your level and explain it before you can live it.  And it's not across the ocean - you don't have to send sailors out to get it, bring it back, and then explain it before you can live it. --- Deuteronomy 30:3-13

Remember the next time you're feeling weak and everything seems to fall and does not make sense, when you feel lost and the night is dark and endless--- you are an inch closer to your dreams and victory.  Why do you think the devil tries too hard?  He knows he's losing the battle, that's why.  Keep the faith.
