Music: Mary, Did You Know? (Pentatonix)

11:39 PM

Mary, Did You Know? (Pentatonix)

Mary responded, "I am the Lord's servant.
May everything you have said about me come true."
And then the angel left her.
-Luke 1:38

I wish my faith is as strong and pure as that of that 14-year old girl.

That teenager who gave up her plans for her life risked judgment for bearing a child out of wedlock and gave her 'yes' to the Lord without hesitations or reservations despite her fears.

I'm more than double her age when she demonstrated total obedience, and I admit that I still have uncertainties when I hear the Lord speak in my heart.

I doubt. I negotiate. I sometimes ignore His call because it's too inconvenient for me. Or too much for my proud self.

But not Mary. That brave, faithful girl who grew up that one holy night

Mary, Did You Know?

Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
That your baby boy has come to make you new?
And this child that you delivered
Will soon deliver you

Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know
That your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby
You kissed the face of God
Oh, Mary, did you know?

Mary, did you know?

The blind will see
The deaf will hear
And the dead will live again
The lame will leap
The dumb will speak
The praises of the lamb

Mary, did you know?
That your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know
That your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know
That your baby boy is heaven's perfect lamb?

And this sleeping child you're holding
Is the great I Am

  6. So Mary was just 14? I guess I never realized that. But that was standard for girls to marry as soon as they got their period. Most art depicts her at least 18-20.

George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire books has many of it's lead characters be 14 years old at the start of the novels. When the books were made into the TV show Game of Thrones, most of the characters became much older.

  28. Oh to be like Mary... And I'm SO GLAD you shared this song AND the lyrics, Lux! I cry every time I hear it... it's my absolute favorite, along with "Mary's song- Breath of Heaven"

I could listen to them both on repeat all day. I actually have!

God bless you, Lux. Let's both take those bold steps like Mary did long ago, shall we? <3
