Wounded And Scarred

8:00 AM

wounded and scarred
It is our choices, that show what we truly are,
far more than our abilities.
-J.K. Rowling

We are all wounded and scarred.

Some wounds are deeper, some scars more permanent.

I don't know about you but I'm yet to meet someone, especially an adult who has never been bruised or wounded in life...figuratively speaking.

Indeed if we look closer, we are walking among broken people; wounded souls, scarred hearts, exhausted from the battle of every day life.

Dramatic, isn't it? But, isn't that the truth?

Personally, I know people who are victims of abuse---physical, sexual, verbal abuses by family members, "friends", and even strangers. People who have been struggling with addiction, those who are stuck in toxic relationships, those who are fighting depression, those who are struggling in finances.

Some of these people are denying themselves of healing. That's why you meet full-grown adults acting like toddlers. If they can't be happy, neither can you. Toxic people are everywhere. If you allow them, they can transform you into one of them. Sad. And scary.

Wounded and scarred, it is our choice that determines what we become.

Are we going to use these wounds and scars to help others find their way, or are we going to add more to it by hurting others? In doing so, we hurt ourselves back.

Wounded and scarred, we either seek healing and be well, or let the pain taunt us for the rest of our lives, becoming miserable and difficult to deal with.

Wounded and scarred, we can allow the Healer to turn our mourning into dancing or stay and rot in the valley of death.

Wounded and scarred, we either stay down and miss what life has to offer, or get up, dust ourselves off and carry on.

We are all wounded and scarred, whether we like it or not. Whether we accept it and face the truth or forever live in lie and agonize.

Wounded and scarred, we are still beautiful, because we are not here by mistake or accident. We are loved, we are His joy, we are made for greatness.

Hello, fellow wounded and scarred soul.
Oh, how beautiful we all are.

  5. Hi, Luxie!

This is a nice piece. There is no such thing as going all the way through life without ever getting wounded and left with scars. That's life. I have found that there are two basic types of people in the world, the ones who use their wounds and scars as a crutch and say, "I failed because of them," and the ones who wear them as a badge of courage and say "I succeeded in spite of them."

    Thank you, dear friend Lux!

  9. Toxic people I stray away from, as many have it hard, but they don't take it out on others or try to suck others down with them.

  10. Oh, Lux ... you said it well.

We're all wounded in some way. Every single one of us. How that plays itself out varies from person to person.

Let's show each other grace. Let's keep reminding each other that we have choices how we respond to what's been thrown at us. And let's keep talking to the Healer of our souls in the process ...

  13. When you are in toxic relationship, it's often hard to realize you are in it. Good to see yourself from outside, and cut the toxic people out of your life. You get wounded and scarred but you don't have to suffer forever. Stay positive, that's my motto :-)

  21. This is excellent insight! Many people enjoy the drama and attention that their scars and wounds bring to them, and would rather have that then be healed. It is a choice, just like you said. Wonderful writing :)

  29. Truly beautiful words Lux. Recently I was reflecting on why do peeps who claim to be healers, buddhists, spiritualists, etc are so warped in their heads that they go around hurting people with out any thought? Why does following the mystic art make you insecure or short sighted? Reading your words I realise these are all hurt people who are looking for answers - but blindly following is not leading to any resolution in their life and they are taking it out on the world! I have "rid" myself of such peeps from my life as I dont want to get sucked into their sickness!!

  34. So true- we are all wounded and scarred and while mostly we didn't have any choice over what caused that we do have a choice about how we respond. We can let it make us bitter and angry or we can seek healing and let it develop compassion to help others.

    ReplyDelete
  35. We all have our personal struggles and no two of us have the same history. I wish we could bear this in mind when we come face to face, or computer to computer, social media to social media. There's nothing so incredible as compassion, eh? Because we're all wounded. Because we'd like others to tolerate our wounds.

  45. I just heard a quote yesterday that comes to mind as I read your words: "When God wants to do an impossible task, he finds an impossible person and crushes them." It is in the crushing that we are wounded and scarred, and yet this is part of the process of becoming poured out wine and broken bread.
    Blessings to you!

  46. Beautiful post, Lux. We truly are all scarred in some way and we can use that to add to the pain in our world or we can use it for good. When we hand the scars over to God He can make beauty for those ashes.

  47. This is why I try not to judge others. We have no idea what wounds and scars others are covering up and hiding. We look at people and think they are okay, but we don't know what is under the surface. Great post!
