Health & Wellness How Balloon Sinuplasty Is Performed 7:49 PM Sinusitis occurs when cavities that are located around your nasal passages suffer from inflammation. It's possible for sinusitis to become a chronic condition, which means that it can last for at least several months and may not be able to dissipate on its own. One modern procedure that is being used for the treatment of sinusitis is balloon sinuplasty. If you are considering a balloon sinuplasty and believe that this treatment is right for you, you should first be aware of what the treatment is and all that it entails. What Is Balloon Sinuplasty? This is a type of modern treatment that has been designed to be safe and minimally invasive, which means that the recovery process that occurs following a balloon sinuplasty is designed to be less burdensome that that of a traditional sinus surgery. One reason that this type of surgery is less invasive than other types is due to the fact that there is no cutting of the bone or tissue within your nose, which helps to shorten the procedure and the associated trauma. A typical balloon sinuplasty procedure takes around 45-60 minutes to complete and is designed for improvement in sinus-associated symptoms. How Balloon Sinuplasty Is Performed This is a very simple procedure that requires no cutting or removal of tissue. The procedure begins by having a small catheter placed into the sinus openings. A balloon on the catheter is then inflated to open the blocked passages. When these passages have been opened, any built up mucus will be able to drain more effectively, which also means that you will be able to start noticing the alleviation of symptoms that you were experiencing with your sinusitis. A saline solution may also be sprayed within the sinus to remove any infected mucus or pus that can be found within. Once the passageways have been opened and any substances have been removed, the catheter is also removed and the treatment is done. Even though this treatment is minimally invasive, you will still be provided with anesthesia before the procedure to make sure that you're calm and don't experience any pain. You should be able to return to work following the procedure after 1-2 days. Should You Obtain a Balloon Sinuplasty? If you're wondering whether or not a balloon sinuplasty is right for you, the best way to ascertain whether or not you are a good candidate for this procedure is to speak with your ENT specialist. They will be able to provide you with a thorough checkup that will determine what the best course of action is for your sinusitis. If you experience such symptoms as facial pressure and pain, sinus headaches, congestion, and a decreased sense of smell, you may want to consider this type of procedure. It's important to understand that a balloon sinuplasty doesn't completely cure sinusitis. In order to do so, you may also need certain medications that will help to clear up the underying issues that are causing you to suffer from sinusitis. With the sinuses open; however, it is hoped that the medications can now access the sinuses so that your condition may improve. Balloon sinuplasty can help to turn debilitating sinusitis symptoms into much more manageable ones that will allow you to go about your daily life without an undue amount of frustration caused by the sinusitis. This is also a highly recommended procedure for people who have suffered from at least several sinus infections in a single year. By opening up the passageways and removing the substances within, it is expected that these infections and associated symptoms occur much less frequently. Additional Considerations About a Balloon Sinuplasty If you're wondering whether or not this treatment is necessary for what you're going through, it's first important to distinguish between a standard cold and sinusitis. Colds may often precede a bout of sinusitis. When you are suffering from a cold, it's possible for your sinuses to become inflamed, which will block your nasal openings. When this occurs, it means that you are suffering from sinusitis. If your bout of sinusitis lasts for more than 12 weeks without going away, it's likely that you are suffering from chronic sinusitis, which will typically require medications and may benefit from treatments like a balloon sinuplasty. The standard symptoms that you will experience when being affected by sinusitis include difficulties with breathing through your nose, sinus pressure, tenderness around your nose and forehead, a sore throat, and general fatigue. Balloon sinuplasty has been shown in several studies to be a highly effective treatment for patients with sinusitis, and is designed to provide long-term relief from sinus-related symptoms. It is; however, possible that you will need additional treatments other than a balloon sinuplasty to successfully manage your nose and sinus related symptoms. Seek professional help at the Becker ENT Center Balloon sinuplasty is a safe and effective treatment option for appropriate patients with chronic sinusitis who have failed to improve with persistent medical treatments and interventions. A decision on whether or not balloon sinuplasty is the right procedure for you should be made in consultation with your ENT physician. The board-certified physicians at Becker ENT are well-versed and experienced in balloon sinuplasty in Philadelphia, PA, and others designed to treat patients suffering from nasal and sinus problems. For Moms Top 7 Best Foods To Eat When You’re Expecting 2:55 AM Top 7 Best Foods To Eat When Youre Expecting A healthy diet during pregnancy is essential for both you and your baby. By getting the proper nutrients and eating the best foods when you're expecting, you will keep your body in tip-top condition even with the added pressures from your present situation. During this time, your body will require extra nutrients and vitamins to sustain your and your baby's health, which involves upping your calorie intake slightly to get in this extra goodness. This additional intake doesn't mean you can have free reign on treats and unhealthy foods, and the eating for two myth should be avoided during your term. Sustaining a healthy diet throughout pregnancy also helps you lose weight afterward. Gaining weight rapidly during this time can lead to higher chances of ill health with issues such as gestational diabetes. Here are the top 7 best foods to keep you at a healthy weight and give your body all the nutrients it needs for a healthy pregnancy and baby. Top 7 Best Foods To Eat When You're Expecting 1. Dairy products As you grow a little person inside your tummy, dairy is vital for helping the fetus develop throughout your trimesters. This food group contains calcium and a range of other essentials such as magnesium, zinc, and B vitamins. It also has two types of proteins to support healthy fetal development. Greek yogurt is excellent, super tasty food, as it contains more calcium than most other products available. If you take probiotics, too, this can support your digestive system, which can be sensitive during pregnancy. 2. Leafy greens Greens are vitally crucial for your diet when you're expecting them as they contain bags of nutrients such as vitamins C, K, and A, plus iron, potassium, and fiber, to name a few. You should be trying to get as many of these foods in your diet as possible, and there are wide varieties to choose from, including kale, broccoli, and spinach. Most of these foods also have tons of antioxidants that help to replenish cells and support your immune system. Eating leafy greens will also benefit from quality fiber intake to ensure better digestion and ease constipation, which is common amongst pregnant ladies. To help support smoother digestion, you can take supplements rich in digestive enzymes, but you need to be careful since you're expecting. Read Nucific reviews to see if the supplement you plan to take is right for you.3. Beans, lentils, and nuts Plant-based foods provide a whole range of nutrients for you and your baby. Foods such as lentils, beans, peas, soybeans, and peanuts offer goodness such as protein, iron, calcium, and fiber, plus tons of vitamins such as B9, which is vital for early growth in the first trimester. This food group is often not consumed nearly enough during everyday diets, especially during pregnancy, but they are just as crucial as other food types. 4. Sweet potatoes Not only are sweet potatoes delicious, but they also contain that much-needed dose of beta-carotene that is converted into vitamin A in the body. This vitamin is vital for growth and healthy fetal development, plus it aids digestion to help you reduce sluggish feelings during your term. 5. Eggs The beauty of eggs is that they contain many essential nutrients that the body requires in a tiny food type. They are also ideal for snacking and using with meals, plus they are low-calorie, so you don't have to worry about overdoing them. Eggs contain essential goodies such as Choline, which helps brain development and overall health. They are also packed with protein and healthy fats to encourage cell regeneration and replenishment. 6. Fruit It's no surprise that fruit is another top food group to try and pack into your diet whether you are pregnant or not. Foods such as berries contain high levels of vitamin C, which assists the body in absorbing iron.Dried fruits are also great for getting ample potassium, vitamin K, and sorbitol to help constipation. Avocados are also a top choice for expectant mothers, as the healthy fats in this fruit help develop the fetus's skin, brain, and tissue.7. Keep hydrated Like in everyday situations, staying hydrated will keep you energized and ready to tackle the day ahead.During pregnancy, it is essential to keep fluid levels topped up, even if that makes you feel like going to the toilet every five seconds. Water relieves myriad ailments such as fatigue, headaches, mood swings, and constipation, which can become more frequent during each trimester as your blood volume increases. Getting 2 liters of water daily will give you the hydration you need. Thinking about diet before, during, and after your pregnancy can help to alleviate a host of things such as fatigue, sluggish feelings, and mood swings. What you put into your body will directly affect how you feel both in body and mind, primarily when your hormones work overtime. It is natural to gain weight during this time, but how quickly you gain it defines how it can affect your health. By nourishing your body, it will have a better chance of getting back to normal more quickly after you give birth and will assist you in getting into a regular and healthier routine in the days and months after. Health & Wellness Goodness Is Human Nature 4:18 PM Humans are innately good. It's in our nature. A baby wasn't born a bully or a racist. Goodness is human nature. We just forget. Maybe because along the way people treated us unjustly or hurt us badly that as a result, we let anger rule our emotions and cloud our judgment. You can't love someone who made you feel like trash. Maybe those around us tell us too often for too long that we are incapable, or not good enough, or that we will never amount to anything that it got ingrained in our minds. Goodness is Human Nature We are gold. But somehow life keeps kicking us down that we got covered in mud we forgot how shiny and precious we are inside. We forgot our identity: that we are born good. via Tumblr We need something or someone to remind us that we are good. We are enough. And that no matter how we think how little our contribution is, we count and we matter. I mean, think about the Butterfly Effect. It is the idea that small things like a flutter of a butterfly's wings, can cause as huge an impact as a hurricane on the other side of the world. That's how powerful it is. That's how powerful our choices are. So a simple effort such as choosing sustainable products can make a humongous difference to our planet. Using paper stem cotton buds over plastic might can save a turtle's life. Advocating on companies that are cruelty-free can save animals from misery and untimely death. Animals aren't put here on earth to suffer or die just so we can perfect that shade of red in our lipstick. Goodness is a choice. Every day we have an option which side to choose, how to react, how to help. For instance, our food can either nourish us or make us ill. What you put inside your body is solely up to you. Those who hurt us can either apologize or not. But to forgive them is all up to us. We can wait until our offender is dead before we forgive them. That is something we choose for ourselves. via Giphy The products we use on a daily basis can come from a company that has no regard for Mother Nature or one that prioritizes and sustains the planet's needs. As I get older, I've become more aware of what I can do to help make the world a better place. Every day, my desire to care for nature grows stronger. I've realized that our life the sum total of every single choice we make every day. What are you choosing? Goodness in the products we choose From consumer to advocate I've discovered Human Nature brand while looking for something new to try in the grocery store. I started as a fan. Then I became addicted to their products because it's SO good. The quality is comparable to leading and expensive brands but at a much lesser price. I buy whatever they release---even those that are for kids, because I just know they're all excellent and worth the money. Having read about wealthy mindset, I researched about them and decided to become a dealer. Only to avail the discount every time I buy. But then the brand is too good not to share. It is so easy to sell because people already know and can testify to how good it is. Let me tell you how awesome Human Nature is: They are cruelty-free. They don't test on animals. They're the first Filipino company that received a prestigious cruelty-free recognition from PETA. Now before I buy cosmetics or anything I consume, I ask first or look for that bunny. It maybe just a simple (or even unnecessary for some) kind of act, but for a beagle who can go blind during the testing or a mice that could die, it is their salvation. via Human Heart Nature They are pro-environment. They see to it that when you rinse off your shampoo or when your sunblock washes off to the sea, it doesn't harm the ocean or the planet in general. They are pro-poor. Human Nature helps give local farmers and unemployed mothers a chance to earn a living. According to their website: "As firm believers in fair trade principles, we offer to buy at just and fair prices from our community-based suppliers, sometimes even above market prices if the market price is not enough to provide a good quality of life for the farmers." They also support Gawad Kalinga which is a movement that has helped build homes for the poorest communities. It is their core belief "to end poverty by first restoring the dignity of the poor." They are pro-Philippines. The ingredients and raw materials they use are locally grown from the Philippines. In case you don't know, the Philippines is rich in natural resources which are mostly used for expensive products you see in the global market like coconut oil. Human Nature recognizes this fact and so they formulate products from here, buying from local suppliers, and using talents and skills of the locals. I am so glad and proud to be a part of this brand. They have the balance between excellence of their product plus a heart for those in need. The quality of their products can compete globally but the price is much more affordable. They generously give back to the community and to the planet. I think I hit the jackpot here. My Human Nature Online Dealer Shop is now open to serve you! I recently opened my very own online dealer shop! If you want to purchase, you can check out my Human Nature Lucky Shop (Love Nature). Here's how easy it is to buy: Create an account or login with Facebook Add items to cart Pay DIRECTLY to Human Nature via debit card, credit card or Paypal (their PayPal option is paused as of writing. In fact, I mentioned this business on my Monday Gratitude List last 2014. I've always wanted to feature them on my blog but then I always let other things get in the way. If you've just heard of this brand, here are my personal favorites and recommendations: Tomato Nourishing Facial Wash Acne Defense Facial Wash Acne Defense Solution Gel Sunflower Beauty Oil Luxe Pure Rosehip Oil Peppermint Lip Scrub Rosemary Strengthening Plus Shampoo and Conditioner Clarifying Shampoo Daily Hair Treatment Conditioner Strawberry or Vanilla Exfoliating Bar Chamomile Cool Feminine Wash Red Days Feminine Wash Citrus Burst Hand Sanitizer Strawberry Hand and Foot Salve Safe Protector Sunscreen Bug Shield Citronella Oil Peppermint Oil Ant Warder HN Liquid Detergent HN Dishwashing Liquid Theo & Philo Choco Peanut Butter Rustique Cacao Kayumanggi Tintan’s Assorted Cookie Bites Pili & Pino Granola Yes, I've tried them all! If you want to nourish your body without hurting your budget and help make the planet a safer and better place, buy organic, cruelty-free, and natural products. Support companies that are not all about profit but also with a purpose. Make that beautiful change in your life you've always wanteded to see. Start with yourself. Choose goodness. Health & Wellness 4 Ways To Forget About Work For A While 8:27 PM Taking some time off from work is something we all need to do every now and then – no one is physically, emotionally, or mentally built to work non-stop. Taking a break means that when you go back to work, whether it’s your own business or someone else’s, you’ll be a lot more focused and productive, you’ll feel rested, and your energy levels will be much increased. Yet it’s hard to completely stop thinking about work. Here are some tips on how to switch off. 4 Ways To Forget About Work For A While Fix Your Routine Even if you’re not taking a few days or weeks away from work, there needs to be a point in the day when the work has to stop. Whatever that time is, fix your routine so that you don’t go back into the office or fire up the laptop, or even check your emails on your phone. You might wear a uniform for work, and your routine could be that as soon as that comes off, you’re not working anymore. Maybe you have a specific workroom that you use, and once you leave that and shut the door, you don’t go back in until the morning. These routines are important as everyone needs some downtime in their lives. Switch Off One ideal way to forget about work is to literally switch off. Shut down your laptop, turn off your mobile devices, and enjoy doing something else. Read a book, take a long, hot bath, cook something delicious, go for a walk or attend a class. There is so much to do that isn’t work, and you should experience as much of it as possible. Switching off entirely can be difficult for many people – social media addiction is a real thing, for example. Therefore, you may need to take this process slowly, but your end goal should be to entirely leave your work devices alone when you’re not actually at work. Automate Automating processes is especially important when you are running your own business and need to take some time off. If you can automate or outsource as many processes as possible, even if it is a short-term solution, then you won’t have to worry about what is happening in your business while you’re not there – you can rest assured that when you return you can carry on as before. Automation can occur in many forms; you can set up blog posts in advance, for example, so that your marketing is still ongoing. Outsourcing is equally as important, as certain processes won’t be interrupted through your not being in the office; marketing, data recovery, accounting, administration work, and more can all be effectively outsourced. Look Forward To Something Whatever it is you are planning to do when you’re not at work, make sure it’s something you can look forward to. Make exciting plans and count down the days until you get to do whatever it is you are taking time off for. You may be going out for a day with your family, or perhaps you’re going to enjoy a birthday celebration or other party. Maybe you’re traveling, or perhaps you’re staying at home and finally getting some of those little jobs done around the house. Whatever it is, if you’re excited about it then you won’t mind not being at work and you’ll have a much better time. Hey, did you find this post helpful or entertaining? Please go ahead and share. Health & Wellness Ready For Summer: My Ultimate Beach Body Routine 5:32 PM It’s swimsuit season again! Spending time at the beach is the best part of summer, but lots of us feel self-conscious. Let’s be clear – everyone deserves to accept themselves, regardless of shape or size. At the same time, there’s nothing wrong with a little preparation to make you feel great. Here’s what I do before hitting the beach. Ready For Summer: My Ultimate Beach Body Routine 1. Get an anti-cellulite massage Cellulite is totally normal. Almost everyone has it – yes, even supermodels. On the other hand, it doesn’t exactly look great in a bikini. So how can you improve the appearance of your skin? Easy! Get an anti-cellulite massage. It breaks down the layers of stubborn fat cells near the surface of your skin. It tightens the area and stimulates blood flow. If you don’t have the time or money to get a professional massage, you can do it yourself at home. Massage your skin the same way you’d handle pizza dough. By firmly kneading, rolling, and gently pummeling your thighs and buttocks you will encourage fatty deposits to break down. Use some massage lotion or oil. Knead and squeeze for 3-5 minutes. 2. Start dry skin brushing Dry skin brushing is exactly what it sounds like. It gives your skin a healthy glow and speeds up the body’s natural detoxification process. All you need is a firm-bristle brush. Starting with your lower legs, massage using long strokes in the direction of your heart. Use a firm touch. Go more gently over sensitive areas of your body. Once you’re done brushing your skin, take a bath or shower. Warm water boosts your circulation and improves the look and feel of your skin. If you’re feeling brave, take a shower and turn the water from hot to cold then back again. This produces an extra-stimulating effect! Do five minutes of brushing per day and you’ll soon notice a difference. According to Dr. Mercola, dry skin brushing can also be a stress-reliever. If you use slow, rhythmic strokes, it can even be akin to meditation. 3. Go on a bikini boot camp Let’s get real – you can’t expect to get the body of a fitness model in a fortnight. But don’t despair, because just a few weeks’ training can make a visible difference. A basic routine of lunges, jumping jacks, planks, and other exercises will tone you up. I can testify that this quick guide, plus a couple of cardio workouts per week, will make you look fabulous. If you find it hard to stay motivated, ask a friend to join you. Having someone else hold you accountable makes it more likely you’ll stick to a workout. Try to make it fun. Mix up your routine by trying a new class or form of exercise if you get bored. 4. Cut back on processed carbs, alcohol, and sodium Skip heavy meals, alcohol, and salty foods in the 48 hours leading up to your beach trip. They cause you to bloat, which won’t make you feel great in your swimsuit. Stick to lean proteins, vegetables, fruits, and sources of healthy fats such as nuts and avocados. Drink at least eight glasses of water per day for that glowing, dewy look. 5. Get a head start on your tan We all know that too much sunlight is bad for your skin, and a natural tan means your skin has been damaged. According to the American Cancer Society, UV radiation is a big risk factor for skin cancer. A fake tan is better for your body. Try a gentle, organic product that suits your skin type. Don’t forget to do an allergy patch test first! Of course, you also need to apply sun cream because fake tan doesn’t usually contain UV protection. You’ll also want to make sure your sunglasses block out harmful sunlight, and it’s also a good idea to invest in a wide-brimmed hat. Heat stroke and headaches are never enjoyable. 6. Build up your confidence! Everyone wants to feel gorgeous on the beach, but it’s OK to be imperfect! Remember, everyone has their hang-ups, and hardly anyone has a model figure. Try to relax and enjoy your trip. It may be cliché, but confident people are the most attractive. Give yourself a pep talk, focus on your favorite features, and go out there and have fun. Concentrate on making memories rather than worrying about the size of your thighs. About the Author: Clara of Massageaholic Hey, did you find this post helpful or entertaining?
