How To Define Your Cheekbones

Having beautifully defined cheekbones can lend structure to your face, creating a more balanced and attractive look. If you have spent any time online watching video tutorials or reading articles on how to use makeup to accentuate your cheekbones, however, you may be feeling a bit overwhelmed. A lot of online tutorials rely on numerous steps and countless expensive products to create the look of high cheekbones. Fortunately, it doesn't have to be that complicated. Using a few simple steps, you can draw attention to your cheekbones, creating structure and definition with very little time or effort.

How To Define Your Cheekbones

1. Figure out where your cheekbones are.

Before you can define your cheekbones, you need to figure out exactly where they are located on your face. The easiest way to do this is by sucking your lips together like a fish. This will create hollows in your cheeks. For each side, place a finger in the hollow of your cheek and slide it up until it contacts the underlying bone. This is the area where you should apply contouring.

2. Create the base.

Apply a bit of darker foundation or powder than you usually use along your cheekbones, bringing it in toward the middle of your face. Make sure that your cheekbones and the apples of your cheeks are covered. Blended altogether using a soft brush or a beauty blender.

3. Apply a cream blush.

Create a brighter, more alert look by applying a small amount of cream blush to the apples of your cheeks.

4. Use a highlighter to add definition.

To really accentuate your cheekbones, apply a shimmering highlighter across the top of the bone, starting at the outer edge of the eye and sweeping it upward toward the temples.
