Many times marriages simply don’t work out as planned. It can simply be too frustrating to try and live with another person if there are a lot of differences. Studies show that the divorce rate is 40%-50% at the present time.
If you’re a woman getting ready to go through this legal challenge, you will want to know how to prepare for it in advance. This can help make this large transition much less stressful and enable you to move on with your life.
4 Tips for Re-Adapting to Life after a Divorce as a Woman
Tip #1: Find a place to live
One of the first things you will want to do is to figure out where you intend to live. This isn’t always the easiest way to start a new life, but it must be done.
It’s common for many females to move to an apartment because this way of living is less expensive than trying to purchase a home. Since you’ll be living alone, you won’t need a great deal of space, and an apartment may be just the right size for you.
You will need to consider all the best ways to protect yourself, and this means purchasing renter’s insurance in the event something was to happen that will allow you to financially recover. Keep in mind you won’t need insurance on the property, but only your personal belongings.

Tip #2: Figure out monthly costs
In an attempt to prevent you from constantly worrying what you’ll need to pay out each month, you should take the time to plan ahead for this. You may feel much better when you know the monthly expenses you will typically be faced with and are sure you can afford these.
For instance, how much will you need to pay for health and auto insurance? What about monthly food costs? Taking the time to estimate your living costs can be extremely effective in allowing you to prepare for this time of your life.
You may need to cut back on the things you purchase on a routine basis and stick to the essential items rather than indulging yourself in luxury ones. However, this is a small price to pay to have your peace back after living in a difficult marriage.
Tip #3: Think about dating
You may not be interested in a relationship immediately after the divorce, but this is sure to be something that you may have in mind at a later date. You will be single, and it’s likely that you may want to have some company over time and not remain alone.
After time has passed, you may want to consider enrolling in some dating sites to help you find a person that can enhance your life rather than cause you more worries. This can be done with extreme ease these days, and many sites offer this service for free to females.
Tip #4: Consider counseling
A life change of this magnitude may have an impact on all areas of your life. You could suffer emotionally from all the stress that accompanies this stage of life. This could translate to health problems that you’d prefer not to have, but are a result of excessive pressure.
The good news is there are a lot of experts that can assist you through this transition. Seeking the assistance of professional counselors is sure to be in your best interest to help you cope with the new single status.
Bear in mind that this will be an additional expense for you, but if you have health insurance in place, this could help pay for it. You can check around to see what the hourly charge is for counseling and then decide if this is something you can afford, but it’s certain to be helpful.

The challenges of going from being married to the single status are many. However, with the right amount of preparation, you can make this transition with decreased anxiety, and this could be the key to finally being happy. It’s not good for your well-being to remain married to a person you dislike and can’t agree with the majority of time on things.

It’s been awhile since I went through my divorce, but it was definitely one of the most painful things in my whole life so I appreciate your good tips here. Counseling was a lifesaver for me. Online dating sites weren’t a thing when I began dating again so I’m thankful God brought me a man the old-fashioned way. ha. But if I were single now, online seems to be a great way to meet new people. Thanks for this post, Lux.

My heart goes out to the women going through a divorce. Have you experienced it, Lux? I haven't but I can imagine how difficult it must be
ReplyDeleteAll the tips are really good and I think counseling is great, and the online dating sites may be good, but I have a friend that has soooo many problems with that... but probably because she feels a bit lost, and she tries any date as the ultimate one, and I told her to be more selective - I hope everybody is! Wishing you a lovely day!

I agree with your points. I like that you also looked at the financial situation of woman. It is very common here where I am from to focus on emotions and to forget about the daily life. As you can imagine, it can lead to a catastrophe...
