Who takes care of you? When you're lost, who goes out there to look for you and bring you back home?
You may not need anyone to look after you because you're independent and you can take care of yourself. That's great. You're strong and that's beautiful.
Personally though I do the things that I can and leave those beyond my control to the greatest Controller of all--- God.
God Is My Daddy
I admit that I may be strong, but I am nothing without Him. My life is in His hands. When I can't seem to go on anymore, too exhausted and wounded, He takes care of me.
When I straggle and leave the path, He leaves the rest of His flock to look for me and lead me back home.
When troubles and dangers approach, He protects me.
With His staff and His rod He comforts me. Me! Sinful. Unworthy.
Although according to recent studies sheep are found to be smarter than they are given credit for, they were always thought to be mindless or dumb. During Jesus' time, most people raise sheep and so they understood well what Psalm 23 was about.
It means that sheep need guiding, herding, supervision, and constant protection of the shepherd.
Sheep are helpless they cannot defend themselves from predators.
On 2005, 450 sheep died when they followed one which fell off the cliff. Sometimes, we're like sheep. We follow the crowd despite knowing that it will bring us to our downfall.
That's why we need a Shepherd. Shepherds are willing to sacrifice their safety and comfort for their flock. Shepherds are willing to risk their lives fighting lions, wolves and other predators that will try to harm their sheep. We need a Shepherd that will prevent us from getting lost and falling down.
We need Someone who constantly looks after us. We need a Shepherd who will leave the flock behind just to look for one missing sheep and rejoice over it's homecoming. We need a Shepherd who will give His life for us.
We need a Daddy. And we have one in God.
We are His sheep, He is our Shepherd. We are in good hands!
Psalm 23
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil for You are with me;
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

This was beautiful... I've been trying to do it without my Heavenly Father... last week I called a friend at my church and told her I want to come back... thank goodness He is so forgiving... unlike people on this Earth... I am grateful He loves me no matter what....♡

DeleteHe is our one and only saviour.
ReplyDeleteIndeed He is.
DeleteYes, it's nice to believe in a God who gives you strength to live. My God is rather diffuse, still has not been described by any religion!
ReplyDeleteWe can't put God in a box. Our knowledge is so limited that we will only limit Him when He is infinite. Thanks, Leovi.

ReplyDeleteYes we do!
DeleteThanks, Cathy!
Hi Lux! I always enjoy reading about sheep. It seemed to be such a large image in the bible. We are the sheep, Jesus is the Good Shepherd. I know that left to my own strength (of which I have very little) I would have a very insular and selfish life. I need a leader! I need a good Father to coax me out of my own little shell. Who's your daddy? I pray it will always be my Good Father.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Ceil
And you will always be His precious child. Thanks, Ceil.
DeleteI'm so glad he's my shepherd and my Abba :).
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteAbsolutely stunning Lux, this is so inspirational and true. I adored reading this and being reminded about appreciating Him. x

DeleteSo beautiful, Lux. Aren't we so blessed to have a daddy like that!? I want to be his lamb, sometimes I need him to scoop me up and hold me in his big, strong arms and carry me.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this lovely illustration.

Yes, we are! We'll never find a Daddy like that anywhere else. I'm sure He'll never get tired of scooping you up and giving you a tight big hug. Thanks for the visit Kristen!
